Dan Simmons
Phillip K. Dick
William Gibson
Neil Stephenson
James Clavelle
Tom Robbins
Alexander Solzhenitsyn

Fyodor Dostoyevsky, Leo Tolstoy, Nietzsche, etc are all good read if you're looking for something a bit, well, better.

I like Nick Hornby. About a Boy and High Fidelity were both made into films but the books are way better.

Jack Black played Barry quite well in High Fidelity tho.

I like books by Stephen King (I'm currently reading Firestarter), have not yet read anything by Dean Koontz but I'm sure I will in the future.

Furthermore I also love books by Tolkien, have read LOTR twice and The Hobbit once, should make some time to read the other books as well.

And I liked reading some Shakespeare (original texts, no translation) as well.

The first writer was talented. But those other two not so much. Nietzsche = Didn't get anything out of him. After realizing through his writings that he was just giving tons of recycled information of other writers(of course, with his sadistic style), all interest was lost. But the three are worth reading.

It's a good book.

I don't have favorites. But I'm currently exploring the fields of the church through the eyes of Balzac, Stendhal and Zola.
