Ti�sto to perform at the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games in Athens, Greece
Ti�sto, twice voted the #1 DJ in the world by DJ Magazine, will make Olympic history on Friday, August 13, when he becomes the first DJ ever to perform in an Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games.
Some four billion people will be watching the planet's premier sport event, when the 28th Olympiad of the modern era opens in Greece, the land where the Olympics were born, and the City where they were revived 108 years ago.
No DJ has ever performed at the Olympic Games.
The President of the ATHENS 2004 Organizing Committee, Mrs. Gianna Angelopoulos-Daskalaki, heralded the announcement of Ti�sto�s participation, saying: �Our Ceremonies will include unique Greek artistic elements along with modern and international perspectives. While it is path-breaking, it is also natural, that a modern artist like Ti�sto will contribute to the celebration we�re planning on our opening night. We welcome him to Athens.�
In October 2003, Ti�sto was approached by the Athens Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games (ATHOC) for a DJ-performance of 90 minutes during the parade of the athletes, a part of the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games.
During this parade, all participating nations introduce their athletes, over 10,000 in total. ATHOC has shown it values art and innovation by asking the most popular DJ on Earth to produce the music for the parade.
Ti�sto will perform his DJ-set live in the Olympic Stadium in Athens. This will include new tracks produced especially for the Opening Ceremony and songs that have been tailored to compliment the spirit of the Ceremony.
In connection with this announcement, Ti�sto said, �I am honored to be to be part of the biggest sports event in the world. The fact that the Games are returning to their birthplace and to the city where they were revived makes Athens 2004 very special. The opportunity to perform my music for billions of people around the globe will be the greatest highlight of my life.�

Tiesto arrived in Greece 5 days ago. He does a dayly souncheck and hasnt been able to sleep much since. "this is the ultimate kick in my life, i've been walking around with goosebumps 24/7. This is the biggest show on earth!"
In October artdirector Papaionnou contacted Tiesto after seing the Tiesto in concert DVD. He liked they way Tiesto mixed classical music with trance. Tiesto has been working on the event every day since.
This event will have an enorm impact on him and the world. After the show, 4.6 billion people will know who Tiesto is. He'll also make history: never before an American TV station showed so much dance music at one time. He'll be the first dj to play for a crowd of over 1 billion people.
The Greek organization choose a selection of tracks he made the last 6 months for the event. He will play trancemusic in Tiesto style with a great variety: a track from ancient Greece, classical song by Albernini, all his hits (Flght, Love comes again, Traffic). The versions he will play are without vocals because some lyrics might upset some countries.
The show will take 2 hours in total. Last monday he did a test with 35.000 Olympic volunteers, and he was impressed. Tiesto is really nervous about the real opening of Greece 2004. The highlight of the event will be when the Dutch Team enters the stadium. He planned Adagio for Strings to be played at that exact time. He will encourage the Dutch and wave to them.

Ett tips f�r er sydbor. Om ni �r mer intresserade av musiken �n inmarschen rekommenderar jag dansk TV, de har v�rldens s�msta kommentator-kultur, ibland kan det vara tyst i 5 min under en fotbollsmatch. Kan inte garantera att det �r s� just vid detta tillf�lle men jag kan n�stan garantera att de snackar mindre �n svensk TV. Sj�lv ska jag insupa allt intressant och matnyttigt som det svenska kommentatorerna kan t�nkas s�ga, det �r ju OS-invigning, det m�ste �tnjutas p� traditionellt vis!

Ass�, att spela s�dan musik till en s�dan h�r inmarsch, vilket j�vla genidrag, all energi och magi som redan finns i ett s�dant h�r spektakel h�js ju flertalet g�nger med Tiestos lirande, v�ntar med sp�nning p� Hollands int�g!
