I have a girlfriend, and I can understand the protective nature we as boyfriends can have at clubs and things. I'm not an aggresively minded person, but I have no quams about being defensive of my g/f. However, goin to places like avalon are just asking for trouble. The crowd just isnt what is was 4 years ago, and thats a large part of the reason why me and my girl try to stick to events and venues that have more people that are there for the music. I don't go to clubs, I go to see DJ's and I think thats a large difference, which is most prevalent in the clubs that are more popular for being the venues that they are, and not necesarily for the talent they bring in. Hence, alot of the crowds there just arent the type of people that are there for the music. Sorry you guys had a bad night, and I hope that you guys will come to Armin in central because I think the crowd there will definately be a little bit more aggreable than any mixx you will find at avalon.

Fact: any girl single or not will get groped at a club while minding her own buisness--it dosnt always help if you w/ a boyfriends or even guy friend, i have "used" my guy friends in clubs numerous times to get rid of assholes, and some still dont get it. Unless your blatantly glued to your girl she will never go untouched.

Fact: if your girl goes clubing alone or w/o guys she will learn to fend off the assholes on her own. Sometimes you need to point blank tell them to fuck off and walk away.

Fact: all guys feel its thier duty to "save" the girl from the assholes. its nice when its done in a nonagressive way but as the previous poster says- there is no need for agressive tactics...You can Always walk away from a fight

just my .02 cents

I had to deal with both of those @ Spirit during the PvD bash. This shmuck came up to Erin's friend and wouldnt get out of her face, so I told him to move numerous times, than I just proceeded to grab him by the shirt and throw him to the side out of her face. Funny thing is the kid was ready to throw down, but what he didnt know was - 1. I would have put him in the hospital if I had a short temper - 2. Brian, Joey, and a couple other guys were standing behind me watching what was happening, Joey mentioned he saw me clinch my fist and get ready to swing. But, I didnt beat the fuck out of the kid... instead we talked it out, and he left her alone, until we left that club... than he harrassed her and a few other TA's outside, than ran up to Erins friend when we left and kissed her ass. Hes lucky I was tired, cause I would have cracked his head open if I had alittle more coordination and energy.

I'm sure your girl can take care of herself and if not, just ask the guy nicely to back off. The guy's being a dick but that doesn't mean you've gotta drop to his level. But this isn't just about the guys. Girls would do well not to standby idly while their boys go apeshit on some random guy. Everyone in this city's just gotta chill out a hell of a lot more and we'd have a really friendly clubbing atmosphere.

But the way we have it now, the crowds just suck.

and can we lay off on the homophobia too.. it's pretty sick..

friendly clubbing atmosphere -1

everything else you said a big +100

I remember I was at Avalon NY for Ferry Corsten I was JerzyGirls bodyguard for half the night. Some asian guy in his late 30's wouldn't get a clue. Being her pretend boyfriend was fun .It got better when we ran into Lunasea,Indy,Brian and Michi .

My buddy Sal and I decided to make a spontaneous trip to NYC because there's absolutely nothing to do in Boston Saturday nights in regards to clubbing. Avalon Boston is always empty saturday nights so we made the 3 hour drive to see Bad Boy Bill. Honestly, I've never seen anyone so active in a booth ever. He was always doing something with his hands whether mixing or scratching. His style was amazing, so confident and smooth. Best song of the night was the Nirvana "lithium" mix, the crowd was going nuts.

Even though I've only been to Avalon New York, that venue alone is crazier than the Boston Scene, not saying the avalon NY was any good...decent at the most. But the drug scene in NY is ridiculous. I don't know whether that's normal in NYC but i've never been exposed to that so it was a different experience for me. I walked onto the main floor and there were honestly so many people tripping. This isn't your normal, "yea i'm rolling" trip but like hardcore tripping out. I specifically remember the old Asian guys that everyone was talking about. There were so many of them and they were honestly all wasted, gone. Overall, I had a good time solely because I was w/ my roommate and Bad Bill Boy spun a decent set. The building in general was a maze for me. I had no clue where the bathrooms were and the heat was unbearable on the main floor.

I'm not even going to explain our experience at the afterhours party @ Discotheque. My roommate wanted to stay and I honestly didn't care but because it was our first time in the big city, some guys at the avalon suggested the Discotheque, I have honestly never seen so many fcked up things before in my life that happened in the club that morning. I cannot get rid of certain images out of my head and it was a real eye opener and I just hope that the NYC clubbing scene isn't anything like that place. I'm not going to go into details but for the ones who have experienced that place, you know what i'm talking about. I can honestly say that I will never step foot into Disco ever again, that place scared the crap out of me. Please everyone, in no way am I critizing or bad mouthing the clubbers of NYC but i'm merely trying to share my thoughts/experiences of the night. I know that Club Disco in no way represents/defines the NYC clubbing scene so I'd honestly love to hear any thoughts/stories. I don't want to cause any trouble for anyone who loves that club but it's just too much for my taste. I was never ever exposed to that type of stuff before and it hit me fast and hard, traumatic nonetheless.

Nice Bumping into you Alyssa and Andy, See you guys Thursday and hopefully i'll be able to meet all the other board loyalists.

wow AnH this is a great review of the nite...yeah i agree that Bad Boy Bill was amazing even tho I had barely heard him before. The djs before him def didnt compare...the nite was kinda gay till he went on the decks. Damn good mixing...

hmm ive never been to Discotheque so i wouldnt know...all i know is that its THE afterhours place for most clubbers within that area...sorry to hear it wasnt such a great time for u there tho. as far as the drug scene goes, i mean its evident that u see it in clubs but usually i can just ignore it and have a good time. then again discotheque is kinda small so mebbe it was unavoidable. iono. neone else have feedback on this? id be interested in reading about it.

Concerning both Avalons, i can def tell u that its def cleaner in every way in Boston. People there actually go more for the music, and crowd control as well as space is managed more efficiently. Except for the early closing hours, I def prefer the Boston one in terms of people, decor, and vibe...but the ny one is still aiite...but its just better to go wid more ppl to watch out for one another, thats all. also i usually hang out on the 2nd floor or the stage -- more room to breathe lols

Hey Everyone,

This is Sal from Ludawgs post. I just wanted to say things along the same lines. Overall I had a great time Sat Night/Sunday Morning, but like Ludawg said, we were a bit taken aback by the afterhours scene. At Avalon I found for the most part people were really nice and even had no prob striking up convos with random people, people seemed chill and didnt mind having a good time. Disco was a bit much for me, I guess when we decided to take a 3 hour drive from Boston to NY it would make sense that we would not want to leave at 7 and that pretty much made an afterparty vital. Granted, after the fact I prob would have been better going in my car, turning on the music and listening to my music while taking a nap, I would have saved money, and prob enjoyed myself more, without witnessing shit I prob should have never seen in the first place.

Overall, I did have a good time, and it was worth every dollar I spent, but I know better next time and will leave my self more outs, so to speak...

Good times all, Good times...

-Sal

Tonight was such a bad night even though bad boy bill was pretty decent.

Well... Alyssa and I went to Avalon for Bad Boy Bill and got there pretty early... prolly around 10pm. So we go into the main room, and it was def the gayest shit i every seen...... it was a fuckin chippendales kind of thing. I have never seen sooo much man ass and man thongs in my life!!! WTF is goin on here! God damn.. ive never felt sooo gay in my life! thank god that it ended at 11pm...damn.

Opening DJ sucked arse and the one following him sucked even more. So we went out for a cig at the courtyard while alyssa waited for her friend to come. 2:30am rolls around and he finally came, so we decided to head back in. As we walked back in, some grimey ass arab tries to pull a quick feel on alyssa's ass and i catch himin the act. I went ape shit, and stepped up to him sayin "WTF you tryin to pull?" Damn i should have knocked his drink on him and spat in his face. After that i was soo heated for AWHILE, nuddin could calm me down...i just wanted to LEAVE. Alyssa never seen me like this before, so of course she was kinda anxious about the state i was in.

As we walk in Bad Boy Bill was already spinning. Not bad for someone that i never heard before. Maybe ill enjoy myself more if it was at a different venue. Anyways, after cooling down from that incident, we decide to dance on the stage since there was less ppl there than on the floor. So were dancing, workin up a sweat, there was this fob (fresh off the boat) was dancing near us. He decides to get closer to alyssa and started to talk to her. I aint gonna fuckin let this shit happen again, so i quickly jumped in and shoved him off. I was already pissed off at what happend earlier, (common now, who wouldnt after seein what just happend 30mins ago?) he tried to calm me down, but i was already tellin him to fuck off, and not to touch me cuz i was gonna knock him. Even alyssa was sayin that he was high and he didnt know what he was doin... but at that point i didnt give a shit if he was high or not.

So after all that shit that happened, im pretty glad that im home laughing about it. But oh man... this shit happens again, i aint gonna be soo niice about it. LOL

*************************

Just off the topic... i was tellin alyssa yesterday at crobar about how i hate obvious old asian fobs at the club -- around late 30s and up. How they do nothing but drop and then try to "dance" then pick up chicks our age. I think at that age, they should be at home or doing something productive, and not fucking out clubbing and shiet. in fact i had run into one awhile back who told me he does nothing with his free time except to go to clubs and dance with young girls, and as he was telling me this I was thisclose to punching his lights out. The whole thing just skeeves me out. in my eyes, this just makes the entire Azn community look bad.

Im too tired to write nemore, so this is my $.02.

I can tell you're a luva, not a fighta'

Besides, for someone so heated about someone comming onto your girl, I think the gayer the better - this way you know they won't be after your girl. But you'd have to be more vigilant about your own ass

Oh, one other thing - if someone groped my girl, they'd have their nose in their skull - no questions asked. But that's just me. I don't care if it was Mike Tyson - that's not just dissin' your gurl, that's dissn' you as well. Some punks never learn and you've got to take a stand sometime. She'll only respect you better for it. Even while you're lying in the hospital on a life support system.

j/k mate...
