scumfrog rawks. there's my review.
Anyone that stayed for Pete Tong's set knows that there were not a whole bunch of train wrecks. I heard two poor mixes by him the whole night. The guy was playing sick beats, and the flow was fine, IMO.
Danny Howells killed it, and Pete Tong totally surprised me. I expected a weak set by him, but it wasn't. The music in the Kool haus was wicked all night. Scumfrog was amazing from what I heard. Great time.
HHhhmmmmmmm Ulta Spin 6.0...are there any other versions?
6.1, maybe 6.5

Glad to hear everyone had a great time
Pete TONG was good and the music and the people were great. Except for these damned whistle blowers. There were 2 of them in particular in KH. I actually went to one to one of them and told him to kill it, he stopped for a minute and then the asshole started again. Then this idiot in a greek soccer shirt started. Had to move all the way back to ignore them. Somebody has to tell these idiots that the whole whistle thing is over.
BAN THE WHISTLES!!!!!

| Originally posted by Floorwhore There werent a bunch. But there were two, and seeing as they were back to back, they stood out even more. Ill admit, he played some outstanding SONGS - but his mixing/programming was probebly the worst i have ever heard by a headliner dj. |
just listen to any of his own sets, it's usually horrible...but great track selection

i recognized two tracks that Scumfrog played- one was Jewel-hash mix and I think he also played Laurent Garniers Crispy Bacon( or was this one in KH)
Btw- Jeff if you recall the track that Scumfrog played( the one where i sorta went bezerk and I asked you to remind me when I had my brain back on) oh wait - I went bezerk a number of times lol!!
Basking in the after glow!!!
My feet hurt so... and the beat in my head goes on and on and on...

my review:
Well, 1 by 1 my entire crew bailed on me. Ended up only going with Francis. Gave my extra guest spots from Jesse to Ray & Marg, and we decided to give away all our free tickets to some random people in line. This ensued in an argument with the guest list b*tch who accused me of selling the tickets, and then told me she was only 'doing me a favor' by letting me in on list, since it was after 12am (by 5-10 mins).
Man I hate her ass, she is such a c*nt every time, and for NO reason.
Didn't stick too long in the KH, as we were told Scumfrog was due on at 11. Headed straight to Guv. Met some very entertaining & wasted men on the patio, to say the least. Jesse didn't actually start until 1:45/ 2, just as they opened up the stage area. Met him at the bottom of the stairs where he gave me my all access bracelet for later. Than back to the stage to dance it up. Really wanted to see Pete Tong, cuz he always has those FUN tunes to dance to, but loyalty remained in the Guv.
It would've been better to see him perform on the stage, where crowd interaction is better for the type of show he puts on, but for being as high up as he was, people were still able to follow him since he kept the lights in the booth on all night. What a total rockstar! Sunglasses on, microphone, drum pad & spotlights... This was much more of a 'performance' than the Boa show, with his long, drawn out falsetto-effect vocals, to those deep, deep and deeeeper tones. As expected, the 2nd 1/2 of his sets are where things really get going & get dirty. Tunes like 'Simmer', 'Love Song', 'So High', and then closed with T-Rex's 'Bang-A-Gong' and 'The Hype'.
Ended up spending the latter 1/2 of the night in the booth, hanging with the Buffalo crew who were awesome. I'll try to make it down to see you & Mark Oliver spin one night, Joe. Say hi to Matt, Natalie & crew. Erika- great to see u again, even if was at the beginning of the night.
Went home to sleep, slept an hour, then got called in to do more overtime for 3 hrs. Stayed up the rest of the day (with the exception of a 1.5 hr nap) and then hit up taste of the Danforth. I am THE sober clubbing marathon maniac!
A note from the Scumfrog:
"Great reviews indeed. It was definitely the best gig of the summer so far for me. I was so happy to play in the Guvernment and not in the Koolhaus, the vibe was amazing right till the end when the bouncers threatened to all resign if I wouldnt stop playing. :-)
About the tracks, just read the thread on TA and didnt play any of the tunes people are suggesting.
T-Rex - Get it on, bang a gong was the original version from 1975, slightly altered live with the amazing CDJ1000s and mixed with Junior Jacks anthem The Hype (without the Robert Smith vocals)
Turn Up The Music is the new Roger Sanchez single from his upcoming album. It wont be out for a while though.
"you make me feel so high" towards the end was my remix (under Dutch) of Static Revengers track So High, out on my label Effin Records. (Yes, its available for once!)
Cant wait to see the pics, see you all next time!
Jesse"
Looks like a missed a good party.

So Mista Houk reads TA
that's pretty cool

Had a really nice night. Started off in the Kool Haus listening to the Thirst DJ and was very impressed. He played some really dark and dirty beats considering how early it was.
Moved over to the GUV next to check out Scumfrong as I thought he was on at 1:00am. He didn't go on until much later but I really enjoyed the last hour or 2 of Mark Oliver's set. Dance for a wee bit on the stage with some of the TA folk but I didn't stick around for too long as it was too hot in the Guv for me and since I had seen Jesse a few times before I figured I would head to the KH to catch Tong and Howells. I was very disppointed to find out when I arrived in the KH that Howells had gone on early slot and that I had missed him. Tong's set was a good one, great to see the legend live and I too really enjoyed hearing the Deep Dish Flashdance.
I had not been out to a party in quite sometime so it was great to see all the smiling TA faces again and meet some new ones. 404 Science... was nice meeting you.
The worst part of every night at the Guv for me is having to pass thru the orangeroom and this night was no exception. I actually walked thru the room with my hands covering my ears at one point in hopes that the tunes in there would not ruin my happy vibe. my personal top 40 hip hop hell. shudder.
