Its a virus B powercore, and who told you that bullshit that a B is way worse than a C? don't believe everything dummies on the net tell you. Go listen for yourself and you'll see the differences are very very small. The C has moog filters and an eq, hardly something that would change the quality of sound. Sure some Virus C patches will sound different on a Virus B because they may have used the eq or moog filters, but doesn't mean they sound worse, just different. The b and c have the same sound, same osc, same waveforms, same character, same effects, etc...

Above & Beyond uses a virus B, I don't hear any complaints from anyone, do you? A virus C won't make u a better producer or give you better sound quality. Gabriel and Dresden used logic and vst plugins to produce As The Rush Comes, and your buddy BT uses vsts so don't worry to much about what nobodys say, look at the ones who made it and you'll see these things mean shit all.

I meantioned the Powercore because vsts are easier to use and helps in the production process. it's more efficient and hardware can give you a splitting headache if your not patient.

Ok man thanks. And yes of course, I'm not the guy who thinks hardware will solve his problems. I'm doing fine already, I will get my break eventually. The initial Virus purchase KC version was because I wanted something more fun then mouse clicking, but I didn't know such nice midi controllers existed, I was fixed with the one I'm stuck now, I figured they were all that bad, just to send in notes you know, didn't know you could assign buttons etc... untill I started researching a bit

I also noticed armin owns a B but not a C, so yeah can't be that bad. I'll test it out in the shop before I buy though, but I have good faith. And with the money you just made me save up (because I think I will go for the poco) I'll be able to buy some extra stuff, like ram, monitors etc..

I would start a new thread for monitor speakers, but I know it's been done a thousand times. Just again, i can't find the official prices, could someone give me the prices (or websites where I can find the damn official price) for the following :

-Alesis monitor 1
-behringer truth B2031
-Tammy reveal active

PS : what does the 'active' stand for ?

Monitor speakers will save me a load of CD-R's as now I burn and I check it on every stereo I have here, or in the car etc... but that usually means I waste 5 cd's per song, just mastering it. So monitor speakers would be nice

Just can't find the friggin price, it's pretty cool that m-audio has their prices actually on their site, it's bugging the living snot out of me that the others don't do that.

check out http://zzounds.com and other sites like these for prices, youll find the monitors there n shit.
Active means that it has an amp inside passive= you need an external amp to power it up.
I have those Alesis m1, and im satisfied

Man I just can't decide, does anyone have the link to 'THE' big hardware synth thread ? I heared it's really good .. like having sex with more then one women at the same time .. but .. both I can not seem to find..

OK,

I think I might be of help. I have Virus C (Indigo Redback) and Andromeda. Completely different synths. You cannot make Virus sound like Andormeda and cannot make Andromeda sound like Virus. End of story. Tho, Andromeda gives you crapload of tweaking options on the surface and the interface is probably one of the best. The downside - learing curve is just a bitch. Though Virus is not too far behind.

As far as the warmth goes - my "Andy" definitely sounds warmer on some sounds. On another its' just a nasty gurgling monster that wants out of its cage.

My monitors are sheitin' themselves when I transpose the basses on Andromeda by -12 tones . As far as the price goes: I paid $1650 for Virus KC used and paid $1700 for Andromeda used. Of course, if you're looking for new one, then the price difference could be steep. You just have to keep your eye on Ebay. I snatched mine - it was in "brand new shape". It's a killer synth but I wound't consider it as diversified as virus.

Ok, as far as the "warmth" goes... Andromeda is "auto-tunning" synth, which you can disable, allowing for oscilator drift, thereby resulting in detuning - a feat that can be performed on Virus, though with mathematical percision. THe "warmth" of analogs comes from unpredictability of detuning - very "Forrest Gump-ian" - you never know what you're going to get

Given a choice between Andromeda or Virus, I'd keep the virus, though that's probably coz' I've been using it a lot more extensively than Andy.

As far as the difference between C and B - I did hear the difference when I auditioned Virus Classic (read = B) - I did perceive a bit more warmth on certain patches. Though, the trade-off is marginal when you account for a 3rd oscilator, more FX, better engine and overall more bells and whistles.

So, rest assured - you'd be happy with Virus C. Feel free to PM with any particular questions.

Cheers!

Also, only 256 user presets .. wow ? I have way more then that after a year of messing around with a synth.. what happens if it's full ? Can't I expand, or save them to my PC HD or something ?

All Virus series can be upped to 1024 patches if you get rid of Demo Song (which is pretty kick-ass but not worth the space it takes up)

Banks A and B can hold user patches and can be dumped to PC via MIDI (of course).
