My system (in case there's something there that might help figure out why it wouldn't work right):

1.3 GHz AMD Processor
512 MB RAM
Inno3d Tornado vid card (GeForce2)
Windows 98 SE
Winamp 5.xx (can't remember off hand)

EDIT:
Got the new DirectX (9, I believe)
I do not have dual monitors

Strange, I've succesfully tested it on a 400Mhz with a GForce 1 ..?!?
Must be something strange going on..

Do you have the latest NVidia detonator drivers installed for your vidcard..?
And the latest motherboard-chipset drivers ?
For example Via4in1 if you have a Via chipset - I've once seen a GForce3 do 1.5fps in 3dmark2001 without them.. and 30fps with)

Just guessing here though, no good way to find out without me sitting at your pc I'm afraid..

Edit:
Is it by any chance a Geforce2 MX ?

I'm not 100% sure if it's an MX or not. When I get home from work, I'll look.

But, I don't think I have the latest drivers for it. from what I remember, I just installed what I needed to to get my PC to run after my latest reformat. I will try to find new drivers for it too. It couldn't hurt.

After I do that, I will definitely post if I got it to work.

Update - Right now I'm working on a control-panel so you can have some live-input on the effects (with multi-monitor support - fullscreen display on the videobeamer, control-panel on the 2nd monitor ),
and I'm trying to get support for content-packs in.
That way you can have different sets of scripts/images/videos to match your taste.

For example Ambient-, Drum&Bass, Techno, Psy-trance, Disco-style packs.
(And the ability to tell BH to use 1 or more of those configurations at the same time )

Whoops, forgot to post.... (actually the post got poushed into the abyss of the second page, and I forgot bout it)

Yeah, I got it to work by updating the mobo-chipset drivers.

2 words: HOLY CRAP! Definitely the best PI I've seen in a while. good job.

Very cool plugin, great job!

I was in awe when I saw Scream 2 playing in the background. Amazing that you used mpegs and tv-input in your plugin!

Is there a pro version of this available for purchase without the adds and such? I'm not quite 100% willing to buy but you never know...

Thank you for all the nice comments

About 'buying' - I don't think I'll ever make a commercial version out of it.
Is the "commercial use" warning really that annoying ..?
It should only display for 10 seconds every 5 minutes,
I didn't think it would be 'too' annoying for home-use..
And it's the only thing I have to make sure that whenever someone here wants to use it at a party, they contact me for a version without - and I can get in for free
Edit: Hey, I just figured something out !
I think in the next release I'll remove the big BH from the logo, so there's only the line "www.beatharness.com" left... that should be at least a bit less annoying

By the way, I've scripted another couple of (imho) very cool effects & transitions,
they will be in the next release & update version,
along with a control-panel to change parameters on-the-fly like effect-duration, transition-duration, audio-sensitivity etc.
This makes it easy to run BH fullscreen on a videobeamer, while interacting with it on a second monitor !

Once again thanks for the nice replies,
it's really inspiring to know some people seem to like it as much as I do

Edit:
Oh, and a few video-tips that work really well in BH :
- Orbital DVD videos
- Underworld DVD videos
- the oldskool "The Mind's Eye", "Beyond the mind's eye" etc.
- Cannibal Holocaust
- mpegs from www.electricsheep.org

Edit2:
And I would really appreciate it if you like BH that you spread the word
More people using it = more input & testing

thanks... first compliment ive gotten about it. i dont know where in my head i got that from

Just gimme a few days and the scripting-manuals / tutorials will be online;
then all of you will be able to make your own effects & transitions
(Ofcourse you'll have to spend an hour first to learn how to 'program' effects - but trust me, it's not too hard )

Posted by Led on Oct-14-2004 01:04:

Sorry it's taking so long....
My work on Killzone ( http://www.killzoneps2.com ) hasn't allowed me to do anything BeatHarness-related up until now...

There's a minor version-bump, some new/adjusted effects etc.
I haven't had time to finish the scripting-tutorials yet though - they're on top of the to-do-list right now though.
But hey, you know how that goes - I think I can finish them in 3 days and then it takes 3 months to find the time

Anyway,
There's a new version up,
download it & press F6 to get to the control-panel - this should allow some user-input while running fullscreen !

F*ck!!!!
sorry, uploaded a wrong version !!!
Please try in 5 minutes - hope I uploaded the right version then ....!

Edit:
Okay, the 'normal' version should be there - running at normal framerates
I accidentally uploaded a debug-version which means that there's lots of security-checks in there only needed when developing,
and without all the usual optimizations.

Now there's a "consumer-version" for download which means full speed

hah yeah i downloaded it and couldn't open it
but so i downloaded it, it works great, but after i did a little fiddling
normally, i have winamp set to 10% opacity, and it goes opaque when you bring the mouse within like idk 20 pixels of it
it was having serious trouble, it wouldn't update the visualization unless i minimized something and didn't move the mouse near winamp or click on anything
then the video ran fine
but anyways, changed it so its just normal opaque winamp and it works fine
great work!

to add to the list of cool videos:
episodes of aqua teen hunger force, the video to benny benassi - satisfaction

If you have a very old version (your last reply was from August), you might want to get the full version if your connection allows..
Might be some new scripts, textures and / or videos in there that are not in the update,
sorry, I don't remember very well

I still think the current version is well worth a try

Yeah, I was thinking about that, since I remember you mentioning new videos, textures, etc. I'll get that then, thx
