But to use your argument...Here's a field...here's a ball...both around already, so lets kick the ball around the field, and to make it interesting, we'll sacrifice the losing team to the God's (things they also did on a regular basis)...so I argue that it wasn't any more innovative than any other sport developed. All sports use aspects of items that are already in use, or available and develop new rules as it evolves (or devolves in the views of many)...i.e. American FB, vs Rugby, vs. Football Football.

I can make this argument with any sport that is out there. I don't argue which ones are better than others...but I tend to follow/play certain ones these days.

(and I assume you meant what we call soccer over here)

Just because you play on skates doens't make it better, or more technical or skillful, it just makes it more stupid.

Its like forcing football players to run on one leg with one hand behind their back, sure it might be hard, but it would also be quite shit.

I thought the game last night was awesome! Canada severely out played USA in the first, with shots against at 24-6 and chances to score for the US at a big ZERO

I'll be at the game tonight, can't wait!

I love hockey. Watching it on TV is nothing like going to a game. The energy is awesome! Same thing goes for football (American football).

On topic, Sweden is looking really good. Their defensive meltdown against the Czech's didnt look too good, but otherwise, Im thinking they may be able to give the Canadians a run for their money...

they sure are, but we'll have to wait till QF or semi's for some of that action

i was impressed with 3rd period Czech offense, but by then it was too late for them.

pretty good game for canada playing slovakia today too. they kept the pressure well today compared to yesterday against the USA.

Too bad man, the Sweeden / Czech game today was really fun to watch. 1-0 Sweeden after one, but Sweeden put up 3 PP goals in the 2nd. Just when things looked bleak for the Czechs (who were inexplicably playing without Hejduk [sp?] ) They had a nice 3 goal explosion....not enough to win, but enough to make it close. These games are fun to watch, but they are essentially meaningless.....I cant wait unti elimination time!

be laughing when you lose to some easter euro country.

We've heard it all before. English beat some shit country and all of a sudden they are world beaters, this applies to every sport, only to come to Australia, get their backside spanked, and return home with their tail between their legs, then change captains and sack the coach.

I just hope for the sake of English cricket they actually win a game this time, and don't give up after the first day of ashes cricket.

just keep that attitude up, you'll look even stupider IF we beat you. I'm not saying we will, but believe me, with the arrogance shown by you about the aussies I really would love to see us beat you, and then rub it into your face. Yes you've dominated the previous era, but you do not have an All Rounder of the quality of Flintoff, a young fast bowler with the Pace of Harmison and we have many more young talents just waiting to get into the team. So we've beaten 'shit' teams, well the West Indies weren't shit when they hammered you all the times in the 80s were they ? The time that Walsh took 7 wickets for 1 run comes to mind too.

As i say, just keep the arrogance up, please, then you will look like the big slack gash that you are when we at least compete with you. I don't have anything against the aussie side, infact I have a fair few cousins & relatives there, but it doesn't mean I cannot believe in my country, and it's that fact that most people have got to realise that nothing comes without belief.
