hmmm i think I would like to hit this :-)
This will probably be my first try at the new system in the docks. We'll see how it goes, but danny's the man.
Heh - When Danny T was at Boa, I went after hyanging at KH for my "God" Ritchie Hawtin. Ended up at Boa at 8am the next morning.... After a full out assault on my body from the techno frenzy the night before, I kinda felt uncertain about a number of things. No sooner did I walk into BOA- I realized that I had hit on a once in a lifetime party.
Clearly, the BEST party decision I made!!! YAY- thanks Chris Maddison for twisting me rubber arm.
That night made me a Danny T fan forever-AMEN! The man is truly charismatic and a people's DJ through and through. He owns my ass forever! I already have goose-bumps!!! My only regret was leaving at 10am to go to a friend's place to shower and get cleaned up to go back for round two from 3-6pm to close him off. To my dismay he had stopped at 1.30pm- ARGHHH!!!! Never again! Do you know how many times I have said- "had I only known the he was going to stop sooner!I would've never left"
This time- I will remain at the Docks for as long as it takes for Danny T to weave his magik. Fuck leaving!!!
So um yeah - i will be there!!!

if only this had somehow happened ..

i cleaning around my room the other day and sorting out some old flyers that i had kept from a few years back and i stumbled upon an old Mekka Festival flyer that i saved. for any of you who don't know what Mekka is/was, it was an example of one of the great tragedies of the EDM scene here and what could have been ..
anyhow, i just figured that some of you might be interested to know what potential there was way back when before rave protocols and other blah-hah came into effect..
ironically it also occured the same year that Creamfields NYC and Las Vegas were cancelled due to "poor ticket sale performance"..

Crystal Method, Roni Size, BT Heading To Mekka
Paul Oakenfold, Mix Master Mike, Carl Craig among other artists to join electronic music tour.
by Corey Moss
The world's top tier of electronic music artists including the Crystal Method, Paul Oakenfold, Danny Tenaglia, Armand Van Helden, BT and Roni Size will gather in August for a 10-city North American tour called Mekka. The outing, which kicks off August 4 in Montreal and wraps up September 2 in Los Angeles, will celebrate the launch of Mekka, a global entertainment company focused on the promotion and development of electronic music culture, according to the tour's publicist.
Acts from various genres of electronic music will be represented, from hip-hop to techno to drum'n'bass to trance. Deep Dish, LTJ Bukem, Mix Master Mike, Sandra Collins and Junior Sanchez are among Mekka's other top names. Several hip-hop acts will be announced later this month.
Mekka will include a rare live set by Detroit techno legend Carl Craig. BT, the Crystal Method, the New Deal and berzone will also be performing live. Working the many turntables on the tour will be DJs Jimmy Van M, Derrick Carter, DJ Rap, Doc Martin, Dave Ralph, Stacey Pullen, Christopher Lawrence, Dieselboy, Mark Farina, DJ Craze, DJ Dan, Terry Mullan, Bad Boy Bill, Misstress Barbara, Andy C, DJ Hype, Grooverider and Mr. C.
Halo and Hipp-E of the Chicago DJ collective H-Foundation, who will also be spinning at Mekka, and Sanchez will mix separate CD compilations in conjunction with the tour. Release dates have not been announced. The tour will be the summer's third major tour featuring electronic music. Moby, Oakenfold, Carl Cox, the Orb, Timo Maas and others will be part of the Area: One tour on July 11 in Atlanta (see "Area: One Festival's Details Come Into Focus"), while Perry Farrell's Jubilee festival, headlined by Jane's Addiction, is also expected to feature top DJs and producers (see "Jane's Addiction Touring In August"). Details for that tour have not been released, though publicists for several electronic music stars, including Size, have said they have been invited to join the outing. Mekka will be held in outdoor venues, such as large fields and fairgrounds. Venues will be announced at a later date. The artists will perform on multiple stages and in tents. Mekka, the company, will specialize in artist management, wireless applications, magazine publishing and music distribution and publishing.

Emery,
I talked to someone who wasn't directly involved with Mekka but knew the people that ran it. Basically, the company that did the promotions (I forget their name) made a lot of money with events prior to the Mekka proposal.
Unfortunately, they didn't use this money towards throwing more parties but rather spent it on themselves.
The main reason why Mekka was cancelled was because a lot of the sponsors that originally signed on, bailed on them.
I believe they had something with Microsoft but the deal went bad and as soon as every other sponsor heard that Bill Gates and co. dropped out, everyone else followed suit.
But yeah, that's one hell of an insane lineup!!!
meh....
theres only 1 dj in the world that I'd miss Danny Tenaglia for and he is in town the same night @ guv...
guv always does their anniversaries on the thanksgiving wknd...
this is quite interesting actually..
last time it was "Danny tengalia (boa) vs Armin (guv)" to a lesser extent cuz the cruise was in the afternoon. This time its head to head...coincidence??
Im quite annoyed...loved him @ boa...hope you guys and gals who end up going have a blast.

Danny Tenaglia - Toronto, October 10...jeeeeeeeeeeezusss!!!!
diamn..im stil in disbelief..i wondered if he would EVER come back after a night like july 1st at BOA..
that was magical..maybe he should have waited until next year..just to keep that night special..but ah well..maybe docks will be good too
"exclusive marathon set"...i guess it wil be another 12 hours (minimum) madness
see ya freaks there!
he shoulda been here for Mekka if only it happened! MOLSON PArk !
tenaglia!!!!
Now if we could only get Cox to show up for once..
^^Wouldn't that be nice?
I'll be there.
I remember the mekka festival....I was so hyped for that party, molson park with what were they expecting? 20,000? Tenaglia was suppost to be on for a 'marathon' 10 hour set and I thought the man was crazy at the time. I swear, I'd never been so dissapointed to hear of a cancellation of a party as I was when mekka went down.
I'm re-thinking this.
I am painting and decorating my place and think that is going to take priority over a party that is 40 for ticket, plus cabs, drinks, and so on.
im definitely down for this
I'm definitely looking forward to this one. I'm missed the show on July 1st, but I'm not going to miss this one. Tickets have been purchased
