probably to make the experience even better, and enhance the music, they can enjoy it without it but prefer with it.

i'm sure there's quite a few idiots around that really do it to look cool though

i thought u was trying to wind me up
people take pill because it feels good when ur high everyone is happy friendly and the whole place is euphoric when certain tunes r dropped simple really. Think about it why would u want to take pills to enjoy the music u wouldnt be in a trance club in the first place if u didnt like the music

Posted by |cEbLu3 on Sep-05-2004 15:27:

i go to club ar LEAST twice a week, don't pop pills tho. I attend raves abt once a month just because they're not common where i'm at.

I love listening to trance at home tho, and sometimes when i'm mixing, i just gotta get my body movin.

do STFU

Why not talk about yourself first?

Posted by josh rising on Sep-05-2004 15:40:

Ok, well maybe some of us don't have a choice. I am 16 years old, only a month over 16, so I can't get my lisence for another 5 months, at the earliest. So even if there WERE raves around here, I couldn't get to them. BUT there's not even raves around here, because I live on Cape Cod, which is just a huge tourist place. The closest raves would be in Boston, and thats impossible. Even so, I'm still underage. So what the fuck else am I supposed to do? Am I not supposed to like dance music just because I can't go to raves yet? Even tho at my high school, I'm considered the only raver there, even though I don't really look like one, but everyone knows I'm a trance DJ, some are even like "Where do you go to raves, where do you buy your x" etc, I'm like "I don't know!!!"

Dumbass.

Posted by Dj Dovla on Sep-05-2004 15:48:

why do people on rap boards only talk about niggas and bitches and how to snort coke and shoot people , I don't get it , they know alot about rap but seem only to download music from the internet ..

wtf ... that didn't make sense did it ?

The point that hes trying to make is how come people trying making out they know so much about djs and the music when they dont even go to clubs i agree with him seeing a dj live is a completly experience to hearing the same set on a downloaded mp3.

I think you missed my point. He's saying people are not allowed to make decisions about music unless they experience it spun by someone else at a "rave". Yet he's a hypocrite because he probably makes many decisions about certain other genres without ever having been to any live version of them.

Maybe it's a different experience, but it doesn't give you some kind of extra knowledge about edm.

Hmm, well that makes you a hypocrite. Also, you are an elitist and you've never ventured an opinion of your own.

You think you're smarter than me because you're four years older? Show me.

i havn't?? i can show you 1000's of posts where i post my opinions. What makes me an elitist anyway, because i think armin is not a good dj? Ive seen him 3 times(which is more then most of the asot fans) 4-5 hour sets this year and he sucked. Most people left 2 hours into his sets because they were so boring. ALOT of people on ta think armin is amazing since they are "arm chair listners," and turn on ASOT thursdays, weather they are old enough, where they live, what ever excuse. His mixing is to dull for me. Id say a good amount of ta's agree with my view so they must be elitists also?

I'm not basing it purely on that. I've seen countless posts where you've spouted elitist crap. Oh, other people think armin van shit (sic) is number 1 because it's their bloody opinion, not because they are all MP3 kids sat at home. That's why you're an elitist.

Have you ever heard of Conneticuit USA? Well they broadcast Armins show weekly, and there has not EVER been a club there that attracts any dj's of any tipes. Armin DEFINATELY gets "votes," because of his asot fans, and many of his fans DEFINATELY never have seen him live(in the states at least). Paul & Digweed have shows also but they don't push them because they know their fans will tune in if they wan't to. Sasha & Tiesto don't even have weekly shows. So to say that armin doesnt get mp3 kiddi votes, is just ignorant. I know there are people that go out and love armin, so be it...

But being an elitist, and hating a dj are 2 different things. I dont feel cooler because i like Digweed & Paul over armin. I just think armin sucks. I know i listen to a lot of "cheezy" artists & tracks but i dont care what other people think.

ps, have u ever seen djs @ clubs? j/w

haha lol so suxxy thread!

Posted by Zombie0915 on Sep-05-2004 18:57:

sandstorm gets so much abuse about his name its funny to read it every time he posts his opinion heh.

But yeah, some people have the good fortune to go to more parties than others, but just because a person hasn't been out as much doesnt mean that their opinion of what sounds good is more valid than others. I have to drive a loooong way to go see stuff so I don't have much experience seeing big DJ's live. I saw armin once at glow last november and it was the most amazing thing I've ever been to, I saw Tiesto at Nation this past June and the music was good but the crowd and the rain kinda ruined it a bit, but I still had fun. I saw PvD in charlotte last year and had a great time their, but got a bit too sloshed to remember much of the music, but I still remember it being a fun night. As far as big trance names that's all I've seen.

Does that mean I'm not allowed to say what I think about a set I hear over a broadcast from one of these people? I agree that DJ's shouldnt be judged overall unless you see them with a bit of regularity, but just because one doesn't get that oppurtunity doesn't mean their opinions on what sounds good are not valid.

I have been to a bunch of parties and seen a bunch of crazy things, and I imagine most of the others here have as well. It might look like were a bunch of music downloading dorks but that doesnt meant that we never leave our computers and go partying.

Yer definately not the first person to come here and say such things.

Talk about ignorant post of the year award. For one, some of the members of this forum are adults. I wouldn't be caught dead at a "rave" with a bunch of little 17 year old candy kids who aren't old enough to go to the club, sucking on pacifiers with candy bracelets on all sorts of different kinds of drugs.

So in order to be a real tranceaddict you have to pop pills huh? Well I just popped a tylenol because reading your patehtic thread gave me a headache.

Downloading music from the net is a way to introduce new people into Trance/ Electronic music and if they like what they hear, maybe they will attend an event when a good dj comes into town.

btw, anybody notice this from sikrav's profile?

Ahhh shit, I guess I don't know a lot about trance because I don't "pop pills" ...maybe if I buy some big pants, and some blinking crap that I can wear, and drop some pills at some cheese ass rave with DJ Irene headlining then, just maybe I might be cool like you...
