This isnt really an easy question when it comes right down to it. First off, someone cant really tell you how to dance. They can tell you but it wont mean a thing and wont help if their style doesnt fit your own groove(guess thats the simplest explanation). To really get a groove on you need to have enough confidence to simple NOT CARE what anyone around you thinks about your dancing. A little tip though...the people who're there to dance/groove etc could really care less how exactly you dance. The fact that you're in there dancing period and enjoying yourself is what allows those of us dancing to get into the music even more. Drugs, alcohol etc certainly help some people get into the scene but its being surrounded by other people dancing which really generates the atmosphere.

Move your ass and the rest will follow so they say. Get near people who're dancing without a care. Just get your hips, legs and feet moving and the rest will follow .

Hey, I just remembered something that helped me alot. You will always feel uncomfortable if you are just sort of shifting your weight around on your feet. PICK THOSE ******S UP! Jumping is one way, but when you watch good dancers you can see how they move their feet, this is a big part of it. Not that you HAVE to get them off the floor all the time, or follow some set ballroom dancing shit, just sort of half hop around and things feel a little better. At least thats what I thot! late/

That's a good start

Basically, don't start dancing right away (unless a girl drags you - in which case just follow her moves for a while).

Drink a bit (ermm, when you 're 21 that is), move just your feet for a while, drink a bit, start moving your hips.. get into it gradually. Pick a song you are familiar with to start dancing, avoid show-offs like hell and do dance close to girls (they can give you the "feel" of the rhythm whenever you lose it).

As many have already mentioned the most important thing to remember is to dance to enjoy yourself. Just don't act like you 're masturbating in public
