I don't think there is anything wrong with it. As long as both parties are into sex and want to have it, then I see nothing wrong. I'm not saving myself for anything, so if the opportunity would come up and my gf at that time would be into it, then I would. However, if she said no to sex, I'd respect that and not force upon it.

The only downside to sex is pregnacy and at 19 years old, that's not something I want to have to deal with and provide for yet.

Given that the only condemnation of premarital sex comes from religion, and religion is based on blind faith rather than reason, one could quite accurately say there is no reason to think of premarital sex as "wrong."

To be honest, I'm not even sold on the idea that marriage has any utilitarian merits which aren't imposed by society...

So I would say marriage itself is closer to being "wrong" than premarital sex.

get it right, all beliefs are based on blind faith rather than reason. Who says your reasoning is right?

do animals get married?

my point exactly.

Posted by torontotrance on Sep-12-2004 02:38:

but we are not animals, we are humans, the highest level of the food chain.

Posted by TheVrk on Sep-12-2004 02:39:

obviously from a religion point of view, its wrong.
i AM a religious/faithful guy, but i cant follow this rule.

so long as your not hurting anyone its alrite with me

Posted by torontotrance on Sep-12-2004 02:44:

but we live in a vacuum, every action we make, affects someone else, we just don't realize it. It's nice to think that as long as it does not affect anyone else but what happens if your future wife is pissed off at all the people you slept with?. See you can argue this till the cows come home but my stance won't change, no matter what the world thinks about it. As usual the world has the if it feels good do it philosphy and I tried that for a while and that never got me anywhere. No matter what someone's rationale and believe me, I've heard it all, my stance won't change and just because 95% of this board does'nt agree with me, does not mean that I'll decide to go get laid. It is just not about not getting laid, the principle is far deeper than anyone realizes.

Good for you, but no one is asking you to change your views, are they? I think you seem to get a bit too worked up over topics like this. If sex is meant to happen, it will, if not, it won't. It doesn't matter if you are waiting for a certain time or not.

If rabbits get to fuck like... err.. rabbits, so should we!

I'm not worked up about anything, it is a good discussion, which is rare for COR these days

You're going to die a very sad, lonely, virgin - which will affect someone else, you just don't realise it yet

Posted by torontotrance on Sep-12-2004 03:26:

Sad? Nah.....I'm the happiest I've been (for reasons that I won't disclose) in almost a year.

No, my beliefs are based on observation, experience, and logic. Religious beliefs, in contrast, are based on the baseless acceptance of religious dogma.

In my case, the belief is derived from empirical data and valid induction or deduction - by definition it is not "blind" because it is derived from observation. When it comes to religion, no such empirical evidence exists and the associated logic is invariably invalid.

If you feel my reasoning is wrong then why don't you raise a logically valid objection to it instead of throwing around pointless non sequiturs like usual?

Well, there's always the small chance that we're meant by nature to have life-long sexual relationships with one person. Monogomy is seen naturally in animal species such as seahorses, gibbons, gannets, swans, and geese for example.

Then again this is pure speculation and could have been proven wrong at one point or another that i'm unaware of.

I see nothing wrong with it.

Guess what? Some smart guy invented something called "protection". The most secure "protection" is called "condom", which gives about 97% security. So by using a "condom" when you have sex, the girl is most likely not to get pregnant. You can surely find "condoms" in a shop near you. Give it a try, ok?

I agree with Lira here. Imagine marrying the girl you love and then finding out things don't work in the sack for you two. That's one of the reasons why I'm pro premarital sex in a stable long-term relationship.

it's ok because sex is great fun

That is an absolutely asinine statement.

You must not have heard of "birth control pills" or "hormone injections" or "patches."

Don't be a hypocrite and give christians a bad name. We all have our flaws, and you have flaws too. I might have had sex out of marriage before. Even though I don't think it's right, I am sure you have sworn before or lied or envied someone. "Judge not, lest yee be judged."
