My father drinks it the traditional way (small half long glass with a sort of metal spoon with holes in it on topof the glass and on thata sugar cube.
Think he puts water to it over the sugar cube.
He tried all kinds of absinth , haven't asked if he tripped on it 
Will do cause with the 'original' absinth you do or did.
and yea it's an absolute killer, fucking strong... the smell clears your nostrils
I had some 120 proof absinthe with moderate thujon effect. My friend and I tried everything to make it not taste like ass and a half... chewed a mouthful gummy bears while drinking it, melted sugar into it, mixed it with ice cream (DO NOT TRY THIS, IT IS DISGUSTING) etc. etc. but nothing worked. We ended up just chugging it and taking pics of the faces we made.
Actually what worked best to make it taste better was we put a lot of sugar in it and then set the absinthe on fire. It was cool looking and it melted the sugar and tasted a bit better. Gets you fucked up quick.

I got some absinth & there was a group of us & we all had a shot & then wandered into the backyard for 10 minutes of "ohhhh im gonna be sick!!" & then have another shot & "eerrrrrr dont talk to me" & then have another shot & "hahah my nose is dribbling"
I dont remember much else from that night. I remember it was freaken freezing until we had the absinth! That stuff sizzles all the way down!
when i was in italy i drank some 160 proof stuff and smoked some hash, i was lit up.
The Absinthe I had was the regular, bright green 140 proof liquor. They also make a Black absinthe that's 160 proof and as the name suggests, jet black. I didn't try this because on my way to Cream some HUGE irish fellas were telling me that the three of them all tried one shot of it and two of them threw up 5 minutes later. So incase you're ever inclined to try it, my advice would just be to stick with the oldschool grean.
I keep the tag from the bottle in my wallet, everyone thinks its so hardcore over here. Haha, my friend kept the perforated spoon and another friend kept the bottle itself. I kinda wish we had poured some into Gatorade bottles or something and brought them over here, could make some pretty decent bank off of selling it.

i've read on some places that only certain brands of absinthe actually do anything for you (thujone wise). and correct me if i'm wrong but I'm pretty sure thujone is toxic, at least at higher doses.

I saw this thing on the history channel about Van Gogh and they recon that ,that is what killed him, He had tendincies for epileptic fits and he was addicted to absinthe, and the more he drank the more fits he got and the more fits he got the more he drank(He thought it helped him) till finally he just wacked of his ear... and drew some pictures and after some more pictures and bottles of absinthe he died.
But anyway...
I saw some in the bottle store, bright green with the slotted spoon, and I thought they had prob made some synthetic one without the wormwood or something, but I guess I was wrong. I think I should go buy some and try it out.
