oh and what are your criterias as something thats not outdated sounding? predictable? sure maybe they sometimes use the same synths from time to time but who doesn't? can you say rank 1? hasn't ferry used that sweeping synth sound since a long long time ago? we don't have a problem with that though do we? i understand you don't like airscape all too much and thats your choice but could you somehow justify the things you've said about them? i mean saying their music is predictable and outdated sounding with nothing to back it up seems vague and unfair to me.

In the past I used to love Airscape. Airscape "Pacific Melody" was excellent and Airscape "Amazon Chant" (Heliotropic & Trouser Enthusiasts Mix) was great as well. I also really liked Airscape "L'esperanza" in 1999 and Tomski "Love Will Come" (Airscape Dub Mix) (additional production by Alex Gold) and Chicane "Halycon" (Airscape Mix) was really nice also but since late 2000 Airscape remxes have got very predictable and tired. If you took the vocals away from Delerium "Silence" (Airscape Mix(, Dario G "Dream To Me" (Airscape Mix), Sylver "Turn The Tide" (Airscape Mix) and Bombario "The Beggining" (Airscape Mix) it would be hard to tell them apart! Yes Ferry Corsten has used the same sound since 1997 on his remixes but I don't get tired of Ferry Corsten remixes, I can never get enough of them. Airscape's sound has got very tired in my opinion, though I've not bothered with their new remixes because I'm sure they're still using the same synths!

odd that you'll find those tracks that similar. i'm very confident with or without the vocals, i can tell them apart from one another. i know what you mean by their style sounding quite alike because of the same synths, especially the safri duo remixes, but i've always felt there was a more distinct difference in melody. anyway glad you took the time to explain your view, atleast now we have a better idea of what you mean. btw i've heard twisted from some promo mp3 i got from AG. if the buildup of the track sounds anything like what i heard, it should be a great track.

also i really recommend you take a listen to airscape's remix of ultra - free. quality tune!!!

Ferry does come a close second

A&B are good this year. But it is not over, how can we decide it now?

I think I'll have to agree with you. Ferry Corsten is also up there, but he screwed it up a bit with poor productions like "Soul On Soul" and "Dance Valley Theme". L-Vee have the most and not least some of the best productions this year. 5 on top:

1. Fire & Ice - Souvenir de Chine
2. Fire & Ice - Lost Emotions 2001
3. Airwave - Save Me
4. The Green Martian - Industry
5. Airwave - Mysteries Of Life

Posted by moogwai on Oct-03-2001 18:22:

Yep... L-Vee is also my favourite producer of this year...

Fire & Ice - Souvenir de Chine, Fire & Ice - Lost Emotions 2001, Airwave - Save Me, Airwave - Mysteries Of Life
The Green Martian - Industry, The Green Martian - Computer Weekend
Ultravibe - Choose Freedom, Ultravibe - Microcosmos and Planisphere - Moonshine and a couple more.. all great !!!

And don't forget these 5 great remixes:
Da Hool - Meet Her At The Love Parade (Airwave Remix)
King of Clubs - Revelation (Airwave Remix)
Push - Strange World (Airwave Remix)
Sonic Inc - Taste Of Summer (Fire & Ice Vital Remix)
Sylver - Skin (Velvet Girl Remix)

Smiley DJ i disagree....

i disagree..the producer of the year in my opinion is someone like satsohi tomiie or john creamer and stephane k... every production from both.or there remixes have been outstanding... even when satoshi took a classic like papua new guinea.... he still made it great.... !

Exclamation

dumonde is superior at remixing, yes we all know that, and his own productions are amazing, all of them.. but if i had to pic one track and one producer that remixed that track, id have to say:

Cosmicman - I love you (SHANE54 REMIX) <<-----<< ... shane is quality also, his own productions are VERY good, (if you havnt heard his stuff with sterbinszky perhaps you should go download it now) and all his remix's have been utterly awesome also, ESPICIALLY this one. he gets ultimate props for such a wonderful remix of such a badass tune. ... enough said.

Smiley DJ

Just downloaded some more tracks of Dumonde:

Anastasia vs Dumonde - Fly with me

THIS one ROCKS!

Posted by Gooseman on Oct-08-2001 20:10:

I'd like to throw my vote in for Riva .. These guys are incredible to me. They haven't done much but the stuff that they do is usually of an extremely high calibre.
Riva - stringer
Riva - The hunter
Aiio - Rapture (Riva remix)

quality stuff...

Posted by djcresto on Oct-08-2001 21:06:

My fav producers of the year are L-Vee and M.i.k.e.

They make so many good quality productions.

dumonde is ok, but their sound is getting boring, they still use the same sound as 2 years ago. And they use it over and over again.
They haven't done anything inovating.

Posted by discojoe on Oct-08-2001 21:45:

while I would have to admit that airwave - save me is a great song and a definite contender for song of the year I thought mysteries of life was a lot older... could be wrong (not even sure if save me is this year actually... any clarification?)

Posted by Stanza on Oct-08-2001 23:57:

Arrow

I reckon two of the best producers of the year goes to the progressive kings James Holden and Max Graham.
They have done remixes of tracks which have been of top quality.

Posted by JM on Oct-09-2001 00:20:

no disagrees from me.....EVERY Dumonde production i've heard so far I LIKED!!!!!!

DUmonde - 2 THUMBS UP....producers of the year definitely...

>JM<

what about avb? He continues to make great quality trance. That's pretty rare these days. Clear blue moon and startheme were both wonderfull as well as his remixes (ie. his remix of Ayumi Hamasaki- Appears)

Well.. they are both on the same Airwave Vinyl.. so they are even 'old'. But Mysteries of Life sounds like Sasha - Xpander.. so maybe that's a reason why you think MoL is older.
