Children's a classic for me, because it's such pure trance, it wasn't trying to do anything but uplift people. Fuck cynical twats like Ishkur slating it, this track is a classic. It may be clichd now thanks to the overwhelming play it got (it was the second biggest selling single worldwide in 1996) but it was always going to be a victim of it's own success.

I still drop The original from time to time at work.
Anthem it most definately is.
It paved the way for a lot of following stuff.
The track is 10 years old for fucks sake- can you see some of this newer wank being held in the same reverence in 2014? not a chance.
Seminal track

I think it sucks :/ 4 Clubbers version is good tho
Definitely a classic in my books.
for many of us that started listening to trance back in the day (mid 90's) this track was killer. it introduced us to the genre, and made us look forward to whats ahead. this may be one of the reasons why we hold this tune in high regard.
on the other hand, there's kids here (14/15/16/17/18/19...) that were still wearing diapers when this tune came out, and i really doubt they were listening to Children as it came out. These are the new kids on the block (pun intended) who got into trance a bit later, and didnt grow up with the classic tunes such as Children. Now, they hear all the remixes, and think those are great compared to the original. You guys didnt grow with the music - you stepped right into it at its peak.

Speaking of which - anyone know where I can find the video?
I had JUST begun to get into EDM when I first saw this video on MTV Amp(old show dedicated to EDM vidoes). Fell asleep with the TV on. Woke up at 3 in the morning to take a leak, and I heard the tune coming from the TV. Just sat there and stared. One of my favorite songs of all time. I agree with JM though - it indeed made one look forward to what was ahead.
children
To me that song is not real trance at all,no power in it,to cheese and easy piano...Because it it was to comercial...I dont remeber that was ever played by some great dj at that time!

i think the original children is okay... not great... but okay
however, the dream mix of that song is one of my favorite songs if not just for the relaxation value of it (not to say that the original isn't relaxing, but i do find the dream mix just that much more so)
if i'm starting to get pissed off i can just listen to the sounds of the storm at the begining and start to feel myself relax
Tilts Courtyard Mix is one of the best songs of all time in my opinon.
