Second (although I'm not 100% sure), I would wager a large sum of money that Equifax is actually the larger of the 2.

Thirdly, make sure the data they have is up-to-date. I have disgusting or premier credit depending on the credit bureau.

PS. DIE EQUIFAX!

Yeah EXP & EQU is the biggest, Trans Union is 3rd class:P

Yeah I noticed that they definitely did not have up-to-date information... for one thing I had to pick from a list of ranges for my credit limit to confirm my identity and none of them were right. Fortunately I happened to remember my limit from a while back before it got raised.

Hey just to let everyone know, i work for a CC company

Rest assuresd, most creditors report to Experian, Transunion & Equifax

Your CC may go through anyone of them depending which company.

Dont open too many iquirys on your credit such as credit checks.

Dont hand out your card # to any tom, dick and harry

Keep 1 card if possible or 2.

Dont ask for a absorbent amt of line of credit, Keep it low profile

Make sure you make minimum payments in time, i would suggest pay off at the end of the month EVERYTHING IN FREAKING FULL!!!!!

Last thing be nice to customer service

^^^ good advice.

I pull Equifax bureaus every day at work (mortgage sales). The single worst thing people do, besides the obvious things like declaring bankruptcy and having collections, is making late payments. Your level of debt doesn't matter *that* much, so long as you always make your minimum payments. I've seen people with well over 100k in credit card and loan debt with great scores...because they've never made late payments.

Equifax will mail you a report and it doesn't count as an inquiry or "hit"...too many inquiries in a short period doesn't look good (you appear to be a "credit seeker") and it will drop your score as well.

Definitely a good idea to check your report once per year...just to make sure everything is in order. Some companies report incorrect info that can screw you without you even knowing. Some companies *cough*Sears*cough* are NOTORIOUS for reporting late payments really quickly...I'd steer clear of getting their cards and stick with a normal Visa/MC/Amex.

income tax or property tax?

yes and no...not right away...unless it ends up in collections.

For long overdue income tax, the Ministry of Finance will often register a Judgement/Execution against your name with the local Sheriff's office. Not only can this be reported to your credit bureau, but if you try to buy/sell a home or get a mortgage, your lawyer needs a clear Sheriff's certificate to register the transaction at the local Land Registry office...which you won't be able to get until you pay off the debt

for long overdue property taxes, the municipality can register a lien on your property, but I don't think I've ever seen that on a credit bureau report.
