But even if you didnt like it, you can see his creativity with it. With PVD, he just throws that hard driving repetitive bassline with boring simple melodies layed over them. For some reason, everyone goes crazy. |

| Originally posted by sandstorm03 im guessing that is confusing you. Probably since Sasha plays a lot of boring stuff, weather it's to get you into a progy dancy "mood" or not, its boring. He does drop some harder stuff that is better, like philth but thats a mear fraction of his set. Maby 3/4 tracks that get you moving in an 2 hour span. And can you please explain to me about the complexity of melodies in prog? Since i am a n00b. Because the last time i checked prog has a very small melody, most of the time not even noticeble one over a hopefully good bassline. Do people listen to Prog because it has good melodies? I know i don't. Melodic prog, like some of the stuff armin is playing & some other djs play just sucks. It gets floaty, fluffy and pointless. Does GU 13 have good "prog" melodies? Or is it this thing called trance? I couldn't tell you a prog track with a melody even nearingggggg the complexity of the worst trance melody. It must be a miracle that paul can get millions of people world wide to actually dance. |

why are you guys comparing sasha and pvd? they spin totally different types of music... theyre both really talented at what they do.

Comparing the two isn't apple and oranges because as mentioned, they aren't spinning the same styles. I like both but I prefer PVD most times in a club because it's more hard. Sasha is experimental and for me, it's 50/50 on if that experiment works. For melodic prog, it's Markus Schulz bitches! Sasha GU Ibiza is awesome but Airdrawndagger and that whole tour was a bit off for me...a little too artsy and not enough meat and potatoes.
Having talked to Sasha for a bit, I came away feeling that the guy was an arrogant prick too which kind of made me sour on him as well.
Taking into saying that Sasha's music is more sophisticated.. I give you that. For me, I don't want to be educated when I'm going clubbing, I want to dance. During his intro I was just sitting there waiting for it to kick in for like 10 minutes... I think I went to use the restroom then.
However, it's hard for me to make blanket statements because while listening to PVD live at Nature One it was quite monotonous. It was just too unrelenting and noisy... which didn't translate well with me at home. In a club it's different for me.
Lastly, each only spun for an hour and I don't think that's the typical fair to judge their performance on.
And one last thing, Sasha and Digweed are better together because they balance each other. Sasha brings Digweed's creativity side up and Digweed fleshes out Sasha's wild experimentations. It's like Lennon and McCartney of the Beatles. One's the heart and the other the brain.
Just take a look at the Northern Exposure series.. truly great classic stuff!!
The Delta Heavy Tour was on!
