the thing is, evolution does not equal death. the sound always evolves. you could say Kraftwerk's "techno" is dead; i choose to see that today's electronic scene has EVOLVED from Kraftwerk's "techno" (and for that matter, john cage's music and artists from 1920s no one has even heard of but I mention Kraftwerk because they're most famous)

ASOT is one of the most listened-to shows, and it plays a lot of formulaic, unimaginative and unmemorable music. And because a lot of people listen to it, that stuff becomes more well known than other types of trance. So it didn't totally change trance, but it has shifted the balance a bit, more boring uplifters are coming out these days and getting played than before...

ASOT didn't change anything, ASOT is the new face, the epitome of today's trance. i sense hostility from your side, as if I have killed trance or changed it. i'm just stating my opinion that i think ASOT trance is the sound of '99 trance as it is today. you might say "you fucking idiot, you don't know what you're talking about" but it's just an opinion so i'll save you some troubles in flaming me

have you ever thought that it might be YOUR taste that's changing and not ASOT being formulaic, unimaginative, and unmemorable (with uplifting being more boring)? i'd suppose that if it really was all those things, it wouldn't be as popular as it is and i think that's a perfectly logical thing to think.

So ASOT is the new face of epic trance, yet at the same time the sound of '99 epic trance? I'm asking what the difference is.

i say deal with the state of trance at the moment ..

or as in the words of the rednecks in South Park

"Get the hellllllll outttttttttttt!!!!!!!"

or just invest in other genres other than trance, because it sounds like you are listening to too much trance..

listen to the radio for a change .. even though that's a very VERY bad alternative, but i just listen to the 80s so that's not bad

How is ASOT epic trance more formulaic, unimaginative, and unmemorable than other epic trance? I want you to talk to me about the structure of the music. Something other than "It just sounds that way."

We get it. You don't like trance. Same way I hate lame Bad Boy Bill booty house, with some random guy going, "oh yeah" boom boom "oh yeah". That music isn't any more creative, or any less repetitive.

fuck off you gimps
go and listen to some real DJs live and stop downloading so many fucking ASOTs and GDJBs
clubbing is not a science for fucks sake
