freakin' deakin' awesome night...
i loved it...i loved the club itself, the sound system, the crowd, everything,
both sets were awesome...
mark pappas kicked butt...mixed it up a lot...i definitely blew up when blueberry came on...running up that hill...and of course flashdance (but that was earlier)
lots of meatheads, one or two scary old dudes (one was playing with spoons?), and one scary old lady...but it was a gay club...what did you expect
tiesto's set KICKED ASSSSS...even though it wasn't that long and he didn't come on for an encore after all the cheering...
i loved every minute of it
especially the crowd...everyone was F***ED!!!!!
all walkin' around in a daze staring at glowsticks
good stuff

probably the best party i've ever been to...
still desperately seeking recovery/sanity at this point however

Smiley DJ

The night was great. Awesome set by Pappas to start the night off. Tiesto could have begun and ended his set much better yet, still, he gave the crowded what they paid for. Personally, I would have enjoyed to listen to Love Will Come again but silence and adagio do the trick as well...

He played Way Out West - The Fall? Awesome!

Does anyone have a recording of this set?

I'm glad SOMEBODY agrees. Sheesh, with all these people saying Tiesto sucked and/or was disappointing I was starting to question my own opinion. If there's another party like this @ Pure I'm coming back!

tracklist?

Thumbs up

Awesome night in Philly. Mark tore shit up and Tiesto brought it home. The joint was packed to the gills and the vibe was unreal. I wasnt to sure about the ending of Adagio though? I thought there was gonna be an encore for sure.

Sorry for the late review. Got back from DE about midnight.
First, Mark Pappas, you tore shit up!! Kudos to you for playing some banging stuff to get us into a dancing mood!!!

Here's my honest review of Tiesto. I thought he was really good. The beginning hour of his set was a little too melodic for my taste, but there were some great tracks. I thought his mixing was on point and track selection was really good overall. He def had some great energy, and he was really into his set, dancing around behind the decks in the booth. I think hearing Silence & Adagio For Strings were the highlight of his set. My only real complaint is that he didn't care enough for his fans to give them an encore. WTF is that about? Not a good move in my book. It's like he came and played, then took his $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ and bounced. whatever.

The club itself was nice. The layout was phat and the crowd was friendly. A tremendous homosexual turnout. I'm all cool with that and freedom of expression, but it became a little overwhelming at points. Some of the stuff that was going on should have been saved for their bedroom. Not because they were gay, because I hate to see a straight couple groping & making out in the middle of a dance floor, but because Other people came to dance, not watch you dry hump in the middle of the floor. But if that's what floats their boat, then good for them. It's just not my cup of tea.

Shout Outs:
Erin: Nice to finally really hang out and party. You're such a great & sweet person and just so SEXY!!!
Liz: Nice to meet you! Your so Sweet! and OMFG, you're UBER HOT!!!!!!
Sal: Always nice to hang out with you bro.
Ryan: Nice to see you again. When you come to NYC, give me a call!
Amanda & Jon: It was great seeing you again!! What apleasant surprise! I love you guys: You're so awesome!
Anyone else I forgot to mention, sorry about that.

OK, back to work now. Later!

Did they close the club after Tiesto's set??? Cause I heard from a few people that clubs in Philly don't allow DJ to spin encores???? Thats why PVD and Tijs didn't play encores at Transit last year.

No, I stayed for at least a half hour after Tiesto was done.

I have a few guesses as to why perhaps his set was so short. The club could only pack so many people, each person paying at most $35 to get in ($30 if you bought online). Tiesto being as famous as he is, he probably is charging upwards of 50k per event. Perhaps his management charged less for the shorter set thus allowing the club to make some profit?

Only other thing I can think of was his schedule might've not permitted him to stick around. I remember once Mauro Picotto came late, and still only spun for half an hour because his flight took off that same morning. I'm not on the management side, so I don't really know.

^exactly...there are too many possibilities to speculate....

Right.....thats why I don't get all worked up over the issue. An encore is something extra so if you get one be happy....if not, don't get all worked up over it.

RIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT! dude, that is such BS!

I mean seriously, how hard is it to play 1(one) more song when the fans are chanting your name? That extra 5-10 minutes makes that much of a difference . Shame on anyone, including PVD, who doesn't play at least one encore song.

just my $.02

bah we're just spoiled lol. encores are great, but shouldn't be done just for the heck of it... actually tiesto, i don't think he's played an encore any of the times i've seen him (6/2003, 6/2004, and this past weekend). he'd just smile, and quickly pass it off to the opener/closer. maybe it's tiesto

but as terrible terry tate would say

"the bathroom's a privilege, not a right!"

Na dood Myers closed it out, after Tiesto. He was only paid for 2 hrs. Last year Tiesto didn't close out Transit either. It's not like he's playing a huge arena, it's fuckin Philly. He did his thing for 2 hrs, then flopped in the back room! Right Pappas?

exactly Sal. They're done as an extra show of appreciation to the fans that are there representing you by cheering your name. They shouldn't be done just to do it. If a dj cares enough about his/her fans, they'll do an encore just as a little token of their appreciation of the fans. Just my opinion though.

Perhaps he had restrictions? Perhaps he was tired... perhaps perhaps perhaps...who knows? Lol...

Love is in the air Tiesto at Pure

I'm not sure what you're all complaining about. Pappas got it started early and tore that shit up, and was followed by Tiesto, who was hot! This was my first time ever seeing Tiesto, I drove 7 hours for it, and I wasn't disappointed at all! Everyone at Pure Philly was super friendly. You guys are all just too spolied cuz you see him all the time. But, trust me, for a baby trance addict, it was a thrill! Peace.
