Yes Girds was a very hot PLAYER! All time champ, but I'm sure he'll still be around (Footy Show etc).

Hmm Sid . . the bulldogs written off by everyone?? Man they were favourites to win it, your just trying to make it sound better!

So glad the bulldogs won! I noticed there was no Phil Gould in the Post-Match show . . BAAAAHAHAHAHA.
I'm waiting for the Roosters to say the rules have to be changed again so they can win the grand final next year
I reckon next year

Roosters v Cowboys

Cowboys win . . . ohh that sounds sooo good.
(Am I sadistic if I enjoy seeing the Rorters lose time after time . hehehe)

Another rumour . . The Rorters are after Willie Mason. THis would just add to a seemingly unlimited salary cap they have.

written off by everybody as in the players for the coffs harbour incident. I'm still in a state of disbelief! GO THE DOGS!

Yeah, that's obviously what he's referring to

Remember when the players were punished for management stupidity?

But lets not dwell on ancient history, and salute the greatest club rugby team in the world, the MIGHTY BULLDOGS!!!!

Might give this thread a sticky

The roundabout down my street was covered in blue and white.

Sunday Night all I could hear was car horns, and "Abu Salim Yo Yo" it was like New Years in October!

Posted by webmeister on Oct-06-2004 12:52:

haha

Was funny as hell when they went cruising up and down Campbell Parade with the huge flags hanging out of the cars

Posted by Romp on Oct-06-2004 14:32:

I was having lunch on Bondi Rd with some mates on the Monday and about 10 bulldogs cars drove past tooting their horns and yelling out.

Fair go, and congrats and all, you guys beat us, but show a bit of class, no other team would do that sort of thing.

And Sid, we won it fair and square in 2002, you guys cheated! You wouldnt even have had the current team if you hadn't rorted the cap in the first place!

Posted by misstrance on Oct-06-2004 14:45:

hahaha i was at bondi on monday as well...there were cars driving around non stop all day! i think it got a bit 2 much after a while but only cause i hate the doggies like im sure if it was my team wouldnt mind!

i actually live in the bulldogs area and even now there r still ppl going on...i think its good 2 see them being supportive but am so over it!

hehehehe and the Rooters (yes I miss spelt it on purpose) aren't over the freaking salary boasting 1 million Origin and International players. And there is absolutely nothing wrong in bathing in the teams glory by beeping horns and waving flags down Bondi Road

PS Joely do the Dogs justice and sticky the thread!

Posted by Philby on Oct-07-2004 04:57:

haha that reminds me of when greece won euro this year
i watched the game and it was pretty exciting, i dont really watch much rugby because its on really late and i dont really follow it but it was a good grand final

I'm sure they have audited us a million times and we aren't over the cap. There are a lot of blokes in the team that love the club and are getting a lot less than they would elsewhere. Ricketson I think is only going to be on about 50k next year. Walker was on about the same this year though to be honest he's not even worth 50c, he's cost us 2 grand finals!

Nothing wrong with bathing in your teams glory but its lame to do it for the purpose of rubbing it in, especially when it spoils our latte drinking in Bondi

To be honest though there are bulldogs supporters driving their cars up and down Bondi Rd and Campbell Parade every freakin weekend, just usually they dont have bulldogs flags on their cars.

I always wore my "PREMIERS 2003" shirt to Bondi Beach last year, and I was there just about every second day. It's great fun

Posted by Sid on Oct-07-2004 06:09:

hehehehehe I love my lattes as well. Yeah Walker is definitely the rooters weak link. Ok he can get to the try line, but defensively he is extremely poor. Utai exposed him twice in the GF and I really have him to thank for the dogs winning it!

Posted by Romp on Oct-07-2004 06:16:

Him and Hodges. I have no idea why we played them both on the same side. Was always my fear before the game. We have some new outside backs coming to the club next year plus some good ones in the lower grades too, I'll be pissed off if Walker is ever in our first grade side for us again in the finals.

btw why dont you bulldog and panthers supporters stay in your own areas, I'm sure you will enjoy yourself there as much as in Bondi :P

they make way better cafe lattes up in Bondi than they do in Bankstown

Yeah I was stoked when I saw them both line up on the right hand side of the field. Should've switched Hegarty to the right, he's not brilliant but is way better than either of those two. They were realistically never going to be able to keep out Willie Tonga and Matt Utai, people were saying that literally all week. And yet they still played Hodges & Walker

Posted by Ves on Oct-07-2004 15:07:

those last 40 minutes were painful...so painful

*chants* walker's a wanker...

apparently Ricky Stuart didnt want to go with them on the same side but was overruled by 'Coaching Director' Phil Gould. Dont know if thats true, I seriously hope not. My guess is that Walker and Hodges have been playing on that side together most of the season and likewise with the other 2 so they wanted to keep them together. Other option would have been to put Flannery in the centres.

The Panthers beat us this year, this year we beat ourselves 21 errors or something, the tries we let in were so soft. Bulldogs didnt do anything special we just fucked up.

keeping the Roosters scoreless isn't anything special? in 18 times the Rooters have led at half time they have won 18 times. Now to come away with the win after a stat like that is credit undoubtedly to the Bulldogs.

Posted by matt_a on Oct-08-2004 09:09:

And last year, the Roosters had never been kept scoreless at halftime all year, and had not lost by more than 10 all year.

Sorry, Oh and I like coming to Bondi. We don't have a beach here unfortunately

No offence, but that is just a crap statistic. I was cringing when they kept repeating it during the game.

The key point is that the Roosters won almost every game anyway, regardless of whether they were leading at half time or not. If their win-loss ratio was 50-50, then that statistic might mean something, but when you win 90%+ of your games anyway, it's hardly surprising.

Posted by Romp on Oct-09-2004 03:33:

you guys made a hell of a lot of mistakes too. Your tries werent anything special, just a routine backline move and crashing over in the corner. The last 15 mins or so the dogs were out on their feet, we were just constantly attacking, made a fair few breaks just kept dropping the ball or fucking up at the end. We dropped the ball on the first tackle soo many times. We just fucked up!

the thing is if they have that win ratio, than one would think with them leading at half time that there would be no way back for the dogs, considering that they had to score twice with the 7 point Rooters lead. Overall, exposing the weakness on the right side of defence was crucial to the dogs winning.
