It's probably because most of the ppl that are new to the scene have never heard of him. He doesn't have alot of his work out there, his sets are hard to find, and when he's here he hasn't played in the major clubs like The Guv or System.
The older TA's know how good he is because most of us have witnessed his great sets at least one time or another.
For those that are don't know, this will be his 5th performance here in Toronto 6th if you count WEMF 2003.

Viva 1yr 2003 (Feb)

My personal favorite was his Viva set... WoW!

State 01 was probably my favorite party because it was best decorated party that I have ever been at (Still to this day), one of the best vibes ever for a party, and the line-up for that party was amazing... Orkidea's return and Armin Van Buuren's debut in Toronto (my favorite AVB set to this day)!!!
I think the reason I love seeing Orkidea play is because he has a style that no other dj has and at the sametime he's played at alot of my most memorable parties.

Yes, I've thought that too. Best decorated as well as the best Armin and Orkidea sets. Do you think that this is due to the fact that it was quite a while ago and, many of us still in the "honey moon phase" of partying? Or was it actually (by all objective standards) one of the best parties? Hard for me to say, but I can't help but attribute it to nostalgia as much as anything.

Also...that set at Viva with Jon 00 Fleming was good too..and that was my first party at Viva too and that was also my favorite at Viva so far. hmmm....

By the way, why doesn't Orkidea release more of his stuff anyway? I mean, if tiesto can get him to do a remix of one of his tracks, he's obviously respected in the big leagues.

Haven't seen him since WEMF 2003. The chance to hear him play on BOA's system will be a treat. I'll try my best to make this one.

Orkidea has been one of Finland's leading trance and progressive DJs
for a remarkable 11 years. He is known in trance circles but also incorporates more housy sounds, breaks, acid, electro or whatever fits into his inspiring sets..

An international reputation that has led him to venues like Tresor (Berlin, Germany), Pacha (Ibiza, Spain), Turbine (Stockholm, Sweden), Tunnel (St.Petersburg, Russia), Wintergalactic & State (Toronto), Viva Nightclub(Toronto) and headlining WEMF 2003 alongside BT -- there is no doubting his ability to perform.

He has released numerous singles & remixes for labels like Black Hole, Vandit, Perfecto and Hooj Choons. These productions have been supported by many icons in the dance music industry, namely Tiesto, Paul van Dyk and Sasha. I was at an all ages party this past friday at Seattle.. And those 17-18 year old "children" were dancing harder than you ever will

Its either this or rank 1... but im feelin Orkidea, hearing alot of good things about him. + ive never been to Boa, a chance in venue is always nice =) keeps things a lil more interesting

In Wintergalactic 2001 someone told me

"Do you know who's comming now? He's better than Tiesto!"
and I said

"whaaat?!"

Althogh no matter what it is hard to say...

Anyways Orkidea is the one not to be missed.
I'll be definately attending to this promsing event.
