Its true. But I was trying to at least see it from his angle. You know, 'prog trance'

Posted by starsurfer on Oct-01-2004 06:39:

well.. the only reason I call those tracks prog trance is that is because that is what I have always known them to be... even Morro calls that stuff prog trance.

But.. I would really like to know what is and isn't prog trance..

is there a definitive way to define them?

Wade you said something about 64 beat progression instead of 32.... ellaborate?

Scottie

Yeah

As you know tracks have phrases, with each phrase having a different sound/s/note/movement(progression of the track) 2 sybolise it (IE symbol crash)

In trance 1 phrases is usually 32 beats, in progressive it's usually 64 beats.

LMK if you want something more detailed (I've got a decent page on this in 'that' thread on ITM)

scottie prog trance would be the sasha of around 99, Nick warren, Max Graham, some lemon 8 stuff

Posted by starsurfer on Oct-01-2004 23:49:

ahh cool cool thanks for clarifying...

well, then .. all this stuff I thought was prog trance.. is really just slow and minimal melodic trance and tech trance then?

Anyone shoot me if I still label it as prog in my record box hehe??

Scottie

Scottie to me its all trance. just a deeper shade. Killer tracklist mate, keep it up.

Posted by basshound on Oct-06-2004 01:34:

looks like a nice tracklist mate.. i havent heard any of your mixes in a while since you stopped sending them to me :P

labeling stuff into genres imo is your own choice.

just like for instance: i call it Sex, others call a job :P

but yer im like the others in that i wouldnt label this a prog trance set. labeling something progressive doesnt mean it is definatly gna be slow. i have heard some progressive being played really fast. its all to do with the structure of the track.. just like wade has mentioned

enough talk and more download

i thinks i gta update that mix on TT alrady
