Sneaker Pimp re: oaky

I saw him the last 2 years. this summer he was GOOD. he had definatly stepped up from his inability to match a beat back in 2003 when he was in kool haus. and some of the tunes he dropped in the summer were unreal. he did a good job and id say check him out, as others have said it would be worth while to see if he has stepped it up another notch since then even. He was the man that is responsible for electronic music growing so fast.

I've never heard Oakey live, and I think I should make the trek to do so.

If the cover is only $20 Canadian and you're not exactly driving from Florida to Toronto then just do it!!! It's not too far of a trip and it's not that expensive Seeing Paul Oakenfield live is a good deal at $20 Canadian

<<<<< considering... not sure yet tho... whut to do, whut to do....

Posted by SpeedJat on Nov-16-2004 21:58:

well the cover is $20 (or $15 if you show up before 11pm) as it says on the guvernment web site. Im going, and i think it's definitely worth it. In addition you get to hear Liquid Todd ( < who is he and what kind of music does he play? ).

Posted by maxpain on Nov-17-2004 00:02:

For $15 or $20 you can't go wrong and I will be there for sure!

Posted by Ub3rBreaker on Nov-17-2004 21:26:

The chances of me not going to see him on teh 27th are pretty slim.
Count me in!

Cant wait! I forsee good times ahead!

Posted by maxpain on Nov-17-2004 23:19:

I am hooping that Paul Oakenfield plays some hard and angry stuff!!! I wanna see if Mark Oliver keeps his rampage streak alive as well

Posted by Nemireck on Nov-20-2004 19:20:

Just look for the group of people dancing in the front row... there's like a 70% chance those are the TOTAs... that's how I found 'em

It just came to my attention that I too will be attending this event, woot.

re: UMM ya

so ya ill be there for sure. along with the rest of my buddies. should be like 6-10 of us. and to all of those who have posted that its your first time to GUV, enjoy and bring as many of your friends as possible, Oakenfold is the god father of electronic music, and the scene needs more followers. for this price you wont regret going, not matter what sober or not so sober state you are all in.

well the problem is, that he has only put out two sets this, year...well actually 4, but only 1, is a full set.

two (30min each) were from the WMC in miami, one a bootleg, and one broadcast on Pete Tongs Essential Selection.

another one was from Global Gathering, but its all hacked up with commercials in between.

THe last one was his EM from Amnesia, in august. This was a full 1.5hr set. A lot of people didnt like it. i did, except i think the last track just didnt fit. otherwise it was good.

otherwise, there is always his radio show, which airs every sunday night. but its realy downbeat and relaxed, compared to his live shows.

I'd love to go, but I can't afford to this weekend... Way too much schoolwork to do. My next party will be Tiesto on the 11th of December, the very same day my exams are done
