Surely not. (If you suck, then the news isn't good for me )

And that is a good point, if you want a scene full of people that are expert shufflers, and no one that dosen't really know what they are doing giving it a go, in about 5 years the melbourne shuffle will be a thing of the past.

Posted by Anomyst on Oct-15-2004 05:16:

Oh the looks you get, its like sheer amazement..

kudos to you for trying, and even better that you love to dance.

i have no problem with that. just don't like people who hog up space and literally push people out of the way because they think they're the shiznit.

more of the attitude of some people that annoys me.

Bah to pushing people out of the way especially if you can't dance

I like to have some space to work with, but I won't go pushing people out of the way, I usually look for openings and jump on em. If I bump someone I'll say sorry and smile.

Dancing is an attitude.

Posted by batemanscott on Oct-15-2004 11:04:

I have nothing against the shuffle, in fact it was the styles of old friends of mine that got the whole thing started.

Does look pretty farken funny tho when they go absolutely flat out for like 30 seconds than stop for 3 minutes to get their breath. Or when there is a break / build in the tune and they continue the same moves and speed regardless.

Two things i seriously wish would disappear from the shuffle tho......that jump on the spot in the middle, and that god forsaken hat twirling shit! Some awesome dancers still around tho.

*end of old rant*

Posted by trevgeeza on Oct-15-2004 12:45:

Werd up scotty, some shufflers are awesome and as i said they are an absolute treat to watch but the thing that i find the funniest is the hat twirling... I MEAN COME THE FARK ON

Posted by A.J. on Oct-15-2004 12:58:

I have never seen any shuffling live, but i watched the video on ITM and it looks pretty awesome.

It's world famous too, i have read people from Canada, US, UK etc talking about it on these forums before.

Go Melbourne!

Posted by batemanscott on Oct-15-2004 13:26:

Funnily enough despite the shuffle Sydney has an even wierder style of dancing, it looks like they are climbing up a ladder! ( for those who've seen it u know what i mean, for those who haven't seen it ask me to demonstrate ) oh so funny to watch!

Posted by marcusus on Oct-15-2004 13:36:

I'm intrigued by this "ladder climb" of which you speak.

I don't recall any Sydney Ladder Climb action before, but I'm interested to see it

LMAO! When i first moved to Sydney I told my mates in Melbourne how strange the danicng style was ( all on the spot). When they came up one commented that it looks as if they are all trying to climb a ladder but getting nowhere.

Porbably because i was used to the Melbourne style where there is more side to side movement. Shuffle or not Melbourne has the best technique imo!

Anyone heading to the City tonight to check out the shuffling on Swanston?

Posted by G`Dave on Oct-16-2004 08:19:

I shall be.

Posted by quebeck on Oct-16-2004 08:22:

Any idea where exactly it's going to be held? It just says "swanston street", thats a farking long street.

lol yeah, they aren't exactly giving the location away it seems like. I reckon it'll be corner of Bourke n Swanston. If I catch the train I'll get off at Melb Central and walk down towards Flinders and hopefully find it, follow the sounds of tekers I guess.

Posted by quebeck on Oct-16-2004 08:45:

lol, sounds like a plan I guess. Hopefully I can find it. Should be good. Cya's there!

Posted by G`Dave on Oct-16-2004 08:48:

My guess would be that its at that.. thingy.. that's near burke st, city square I think its called OR at federation square.. so I'll get off train at Flinders and it shouldn't be hard to find.

*Hmmm.. to wear phatties or not?*

Posted by quebeck on Oct-16-2004 09:07:

Lol all that shuffling might put you in the mood to go clubbing after, I guess better to be prepared than not

Posted by amnesiak on Oct-16-2004 09:24:

If you see me..... give me a wave and say hi.

unless im too scary
