by the way, hope someone can help me,

is there a particular reason why sasha chose the name sasha?

Posted by GT357 on Oct-15-2004 06:09:

got turned onto sasha when he put xpander on the soundtrack for the playstation game wipeout xl. been hooked ever since. its still my fav. track.
peace

I agree with floorfiller when he said sasha is consitant. I rarely met any Sahsa fans who complain about his work as I have seen with Tiesto, PVD, Armin,Paul Oakenfold, Schulz ,etc. Either you love him or you hate him. Enjoying Sahsa is like enjoying Tuscan Red Wine. Its an acquired taste. But once you discovere him you can never think about music production or dj'ing the same. He is honestly that f#ckin good.

You listen to his production, his mixes, and you go see him live and there is no surprises. He has been true to progressive for many many years. He has always been a pioneer for the progressive genre; not only in his productions but also when hes behind the decks.

This man is a class act.

I think im going to join the Sasha fan club now

yes im guessing there is, the russians call anyone who's name is alex, Sasha...so im guessing Sasha whos real name is alexander took that idea and made it his DJ name.....which is a fuckin awsome DJ name if u ask me!

and i totaly agree with Dave Piazza on that once u discover Sasha and his sound u just CANT GET ENOUGH OF IT!!! once i saw him live i totaly forgot the word TRANCE!

PS: i cant wait to fucking see him again on the 23rd in LA, he's with Jimmy van M, and Anne Savvage afterhours!!! kinda weird line up if u ask me but hey im not complaining

I enjoy listening and expereincing different moods within electronic dance music. I dont think I will abandon trance becuase imo each genre creates a certain mood. All genre have energy but its the mood of the energy that differiates trance from say prog.

I personally find listening to progressive as a method for me to sharpen my listening and evaluation skills when i listen to trance. I have become more keen in listening to the progressions, the synths, bassline ,the overall groove, etc.

For me listening to other forms of EDM is like traveling across Europe. You encouter different tastes, customs, culture, language, etc. The more you travel across the continent the more you begin to appericate the beauty of its complexity. you begin to think and understand the world differntly. This imo is what listening to progressive, trance, and other forms of EDM has done for me.

Sasha still rules, he's still innovating which is fantastic stuff especially when you hear how tired some of the other dj's who've been around sound now. Involver is fantastic, just been rereleased CD in the UK with a second cd of Sasha remixes from last ten years or so ... Also his mix of Felix Da Housecat is knocking around on a promo/white label now.

I know not everyone does but I still love AirDrawnDagger too

I'm listening to my Xpander EP vinyls right now

Timeless !

Posted by bbjosh on Oct-15-2004 10:43:

mmm guys can someone who can please answer my question about where the name sasha came from?

we all know sasha is great

Posted by Quinders on Oct-15-2004 10:59:

As Noree said earlier in the thread the Russians call anyone who is named Alex "Sasha" as his real name is Alexander Coe. This is maybe where this name came from. Though I have read somewhere that he was originally going to call himself "Sash" but that German guy got there before him so he just stuck an "a" on the end of it. I have also read that Alexander Coe is not Sasha's real name but an alias (his real name is supposed to be Mark Donovan though I don't know if this is true).

Posted by bbjosh on Oct-15-2004 11:15:

oh crap sorry didnt see that reply, sorry guys!

so thats why,, mmm...

u serious? alexander coe is jus an alias? lol, man this guy is mysterious... well no one normal can play music that great!

Posted by Quinders on Oct-15-2004 11:54:

I don't really think Sasha is that mysterious. Sure he MAY have a fake name (most producers do) and he mightn't do that many interviews but that hardly constitutes being mysterious. It's a media created thing really.

Posted by Steve Stephano on Oct-15-2004 12:21:

I still listen to his NYE set from Alexandria Palace in '98! This is probably my favourite Sasha set.

I love Sasha though, I think his work is brilliant and never once frowned at anything I have heard by him, whether it is producing or mixing.

Posted by stren on Oct-16-2004 07:25:

I love involver and airdrawndagger. Also the 1 cd of Northen Exposure with Digweed (especially the Tori Amos song mix) and I do piss myself when I hear his mix of Viton & Stel - Wooden Swordz (Kosmas Epsilon Remix) in his Global Dj broadcast set 2k4
Sasha > all others

Posted by itsTrueSonic on Oct-16-2004 12:25:

i give him full kudos with airdrawndager and invovler.
he is one of the few djs from the past 10 years that has not had his talents diminished or ridiculed in any way.

i hope he keeps it up.
do you think the drugs are his inspiration?

Posted by minneec on Oct-16-2004 12:44:

as for the sasha name, it's a russian nickname for alexander. i thought that was his real name. if you look at the thank you's in the back or add and involver, you can see the name coe thrown around a bit. so that would make coe his real last name, and sasha would be his nickname from home. it was in one of the interviews somewhere. as for his input into involver, i think it was mainly him and this one other guy on sound. so involver was more or less his brainchild...hope this helps
and yeah sasha rocks!

Posted by ZendoBro on Oct-19-2004 02:41:

I finally saw Sasha. All I have to say was that for the first time I really had fun. He spuns some great tunes and I got his autograph too. It took me awhile to really get into his sound though. When Airdrawndagger first came out. I was like "What the hell is this?" I ended up buying it two years later to realize it's freakin' great. Involver too is just innovative. This is one DJ I will definitely go to see as many times as possible.

Posted by TheVrk on Oct-19-2004 03:05:

easy.
still one of my faves ever

Posted by NuDarkBeat on Oct-19-2004 03:08:

i agree with all of you guys. i have been the super true to trance

and progressive trance guy for a while now, but ever since hearing

Sasha and John Digweed - Essential Mix Live @ Renaissance 2004 my

tastes are changing. Im starting to look more into Sasha's solo sets

and he is really finally making me get into the true progressive

sound and understand what those stupid elitest always try to explain

to me! Sasha is an superb Dj and Producer. I will try to see him my

first chance I get!

Posted by Tigo on Oct-19-2004 03:14:

w00t 5 more days and i get to see the MAN again!!!! should be a hell of a night!

Posted by Plastick on Oct-19-2004 07:33:

I seriously regret for not getting addicted to Sasha earlier
He's coming here on the 14th nxt month, hope I can make it that day

Posted by twizta on Oct-19-2004 09:03:

and he will be here in shanghai nov 20th
spinning at the Shanghai Technology and Science museum

Posted by Zharen on Oct-19-2004 11:19:

Yes, I truly enjoyed listening to Involver when it came out, and getting Sasha to autograph it when he spun at Mezzanine in SF. It amazes me too, because whether he's sober, drunk, or on drugs, his mixing is still incredible. BTW, I thought I heard in one of his interviews that he was going to do another Involver CD or at least expand on the first. Is this true?

Posted by Quinders on Oct-19-2004 12:36:

Yeah it is true Zharen. He actually plans to do two more "Involver" Cd's. Don't know when they are scheduled to come out though.
