I had a picture of Q-Bert as my avatar for a while. No one seemed to recognize it.

Yeah I remember it. Just cause I didn't say anything doesn't mean I didn't know

Posted by Stanza on Oct-15-2004 05:10:

Of course I didn't recognise it.

All avatars and sig's are toggled OFF for me

Nice video, they both have unbelievable scratching skills.

BUT, i don't think i could sit there in the crowd and watch something like that. It is impressive to watch, but i didn't really feel the flow of the music AT ALL.

That's just my 2c.

In the late 90s, there was a guy from asia who was in some competition and his performance there makes what Mike & Q Bert play in that video look amateurish.

I have yet to see any other scratcher impress me nearly as much as he did.

too too good,turntablism business.

Yea i will admit and understand that some ppl don't like or get this cos sometimes its too scratchy technical and not musical enough but they're extremely talented, spending hours upon hours in their bedrooms getting cuts vocal mixes right together, some of the stuff they do is unbelievable and it puts me to shame cos all i do is 'mix'

Q bert is crazy tho,i seen some interview and he started talking about aliens and crazy stuff like that

ok, im not tryin to diss zabiela i was half sarcastic on the 'eat your heart out' comment. i was simply tryin show some newbs in the scene some artists' scratching ability and how they really create a musical sound using a non musical sample ie. acapellas. Mix Master Mike & Q Bert, 2 founding members of The Invisible Scratch Piklz are probably THE best turntablists in the world. MMM taught QBert and he learned fast.. battling eachother twice, MMM winning the first and QB winning the 2nd... Turntablism is an exciting form of Electronic Music, and i felt some of you that are not exposed to it was really missing out on what a simple tunrtable trick from 20yrs ago has created to what it is today. also keep in mind that the video i shared is from 1995 ! almost 10yrs ago... im not comparing JZ to these guys cuz JZ aint a turntablist, but these guys ARE the ones who's inspired a ton of scratchers world wide and im sure JZ is one of them as well. glad you guys enjoyed it.

That was CRAZY.

Comparing Zabiela to Mix Master Mike is like comparing Paul Oakenfold to Billy Ray Cyrus.

Just to reiterate my earlier point (i watched the vid again):

Their skills are insane, absolutely off the hook! That shite requires ridiculous amounts of practice and persistance, as well as some creativity and i truly respect them for that.

Not my type of music, but still, R.E.S.P.E.C.T. to them.

...and my search for audio of Bad Boy Bill battling in 1988 when he won the DMC using classic house continues...

Found some recordings of his WBMX shows. Seems he played some Italo back then too, kickass.

total ownage.

turntabalists are the r0x0r

Posted by TwoPlow on Oct-16-2004 21:25:

Shit, that video of the japanese guy at the 2002 DMCs... I want to have his kids. Turntablism is amazing. I wish I had the time and patience to practice to be able to do that on the lowest of levels.

Taking two house records and making drum and bass is damn near godly.
