If you can make your stuff sound good on crap equipment, then it'll sound wikid on mad shit. It's harder going from good to crap.
haha true dave
same thing applies with girls and cars

Producers that come out and PLay shitty DJ sets shit me.
Oh BTW, Digweed had the worst setup in the world for ages...

Just noticed this - so if you can stretch to $699, you can get the behringer B2031 truths here:
www.venuemusic.com.au/Products.asp?ProdID=5157
I find that Glen McGrath is a bit 'honky' in the midrange.
I rely on my shitty 2.1 channel pc speakers & the trusty technics headphones.. does the job for a home system
producer shite? sorry if it bores you jules but the fact of the matter is you gave me a3 dj names (one of which I wouldnt rate as the first two anyways), and i could give you about 50 times that amount of succesful 'djs' who come out here because they write shit hot tunes. and whats with this thing how it shits you when they bring out producers who cant dj.. who the fuck cant dj? its easy jules

If your into spending money then Dynaudio Acoustics are the best of the best or Mackie HR824's
but then again usully your ears cant tell the difference with good speakers because its all to do with the room they are in... the acoustics of the room is what u want to look at.

). I like natural big room reverb on my trance.
just bought myself a pair of JBL Eon's.
only problem is, i have no where to put them
anyone know anything about wall mounting and such? i want them up on the corners but i'm a little worried there wouldn't be brackets out there that could support its weight
can anyone here recommend some good self powered amp/speakers that would be erasonably cheapish, but good enough to use as monitors for mixing at home, and as big speakers for home parties etc etc.
Just got my new speakers thanks to Reemo!
Behringer Truth! There brillant! Great value for price! Soup.. i'm sure if u speak to Reemo he'll look after you with the speakers!

how much u get em for virginia???
passive or active???
theres a store in bayswater selling Actives for $450
gonna get myself a pair... problem is the EONS have taken up the XLR ports. Im hoping there is such a thing as RCA > XLR.... *crosses fingers*
i'll be looking at getting a pair of active studio monitors early next year.. reemo is cheap you say? i'll have to give him a ring

DO I GET MATES RATES THOUGH? thats what im after..
some trivia
steve may made open day using behringer truths
for 800+ i still think they're highway robbery.
shop around. never pay rrp, there's always room to move.
i remember them being offered down at billy hydes blackburn for 550 at an annual sale. [though that was a year ago. regardless, shit depreciates no?]
you're not wrong there jay.. they're a bit pricey, but man.. anythings better than using headphones
and if i have to pay a bit more for decent monitors, that's what i'll do. i've been shopping around though, gonna try and get a bit of 'bang fer my buck'.
For studio use at home I strongly recommend a pair of decent studio monitors. Stage monitors such as what Josh mentioned are more for performance versus recording and therefore I don't recommend these for home use.
Here is a budget studio monitor shoot-out that I found most usefull:
http://www.digitalprosound.com/2002...or_shootout.htm
The Behringer Truth's are the best value budget studio monitor on the market and we have therefore decided to stock them at Vinyl Warning. See http://www.vinylwarning.com.au/prod...roducts_id=9879

| Originally posted by rez maybe 'prominent' wasn't the right word but in all honesty, by using crap equipment... your not really going to progress anywhere especially if you wanna be a "better" dj. yes prominent djs make money through producing, but they didnt start producing on a kmart tape recorder stealing melodies from pop songs on ugly phils top 30. they would've made a few sacrifices in order to get some sort of decent equipment where mix tapes would at least sound half decent. and yes soups your hearing this from a professional. if i had 3 kids to feed i wouldnt be wasting money a very expensive hobby. buy your kids some tonka products. im sure that would bring you alot more happiness than a new mixer |
If want really cheap and quality stuff check this place out. I've been purchasing electronics components from one of their dealers (WES Components) for years. Never had any problems plus they're located in Sydney.
You can buy already assembled stuff or If you're on the know-how little bit about simple electronics stuff like soldering, acoustics etc you can order just the right things for your needs that will surpass the quality of most gear out there!!!! There is nothing like custom made speakers.
