The problem is, even though it says "Attention newbies", they won't know to read it
You should title the title of this thread 'DON'T READ ME' ... then they'll all read it.

nazi, buti think this forum does actually require
age more than any other forum.
I have come across some very interesting stuff using the search, the only problem is when using it is that sometimes there are a million threads displayed and not one of them has the info you want.
I also don't think people will read this specific sticky, because a sticky somehow does not get read... just look how many people still ask where they can download or share mp3s.
poor timing as far as this thread is concerned... search is knackered again.
swamper needs to get his spanners out
hope you don't mind freak, i edited your message to include people who think production = DJing.
yes i mind
not that anyone will read it
one thing the board moderators can do is make the text yellow or some other bright color so that newbs have a harder time missing it
like that attention notice when the harddrive went out... had no trouble at all noticing that
when all your important topics are the same color as every other topic only bolded they dont really stand out that much from the rest

heh
I agree with what you dude. Perhaps you should keep in mind the "search" engine on ta isnt google. In fact it's not even all that great, I have tried many time to find something. Sometimes it's just faster to make another one instead of searching for 1 hour.
Just my 2 sense.
I do agree! Just maybe a upgrade in search engine.

Bump and bump again to this thread.... (Yes I know it's a sticky!)
Never been much of a search button maniac but c'mon guys!
If I see another something vs somethng else thread... or Noob want's advice on equipment thread or even 'I want top of the range gear for virtually no money' thread I think I will pull my hair out!!
I think the fact that global DJs can share their DJing experiences is really cool. The fact that we can have a difference of opinion is refreshing and healthy.
DJing is a far more complexed and rich experience to be narrowed down to just equipment and how much it costs.
Simple rules that will help!
If it's cheap it's shit - you get what you pay for
Vinly vs CD - Some of you prefer vinyl, some CD. In the end it's how you rock the party.
MP3's (Final scratch etc) - It's reasonably new, it's still got a few kinks to be ironed out but it works. Sound quality can be a slight issue and piracy is a big one.
All the vs threads are a heap of crap unless the products are very similar. Equiment is personal, but if you get further than playing in your bedroom then it wont matter as you play on what you are given.
What would be more helpful perhaps is threads like 'how to bet the best out of' various pieces of equipment rather than just is something better or worse.
My point is that this forum has become tedious with the same dumb arsed questions by people who are too lazy to search!

precisely why i posted this thread!
Except youve probably said it better.. ho hum..
Maybe we need to set this as a pop up every time you enter this forum?

This thread is futile. I think at the moment there are 3 spend my $X/recommend me equipment threads on the first page. Perhaps we should create a sub-forum where we can stick all of those.
I think this sticky has as much going for it as the About mp3 and p2p sticky...
I must however point out the fact, that I myself have asked the dumb stupid shit, even after I have done lots of googling and research and I still posted something vs something, is this good, etc. These questions bery much influenced my choices as to what to buy, and will save me tons of cash.
The search doesn't work very well, isn't it possible to make sub threads not for posts but for gear reviews and recommendations on low end, medium and hig end gear. and every type of gear should have it's own tree, TT, headphones, mixers etc.

Fair comments, I guess this thread gives a chance to us oldies to rant. Still get real tired of lazy people though.
Cheers

i've used the search before and i think it's bs to complain to everyone about posting stuff. this forum is not just for experts, but newbies as well. when i tried to search it came up blank and i never got the best answer since i was accused of not searching first. i think some have a reason to cry, but not all of bad posts are intentional. i also think it's messed up that i don't wanna post a question, so i get to hear some @$$hole tell me some stupid shit. anyway, i'm getting off my soapbox now how bout many of you get off yours? by the way for those who do remember what it is like starting off and trying to support the trance industry i salute you. also those who give free helpful advice, or at least attempt to. is there someone i could post my question to, and ask if it's fine to post? thanks for the help and ta for having a place to communicate with awesome djs!
I hear ya,
I think the point of this thread was more originally to avoid posts such as the Vs threads which are usually started by people who have never experienced these pieces of kit don't have the intnetion of buying it either.
I think they are tiresome and pointless and don'teach anyone anything.
I agree, a new DJ should feel comfortable to be able to ask the questions that he/she feels are necessary without the search whores attacking them.
But if the question reads 'Where can I get my free set of 1012's (Yes I know it's 1210's) and an Adam and Heath Mixer (And yes I know it's Allen and Heath) and all the tunes I want as I'm going to be Ferry Corsten in less than a week' then that can get a touch annoying after a few months.
As you may or may not have noticed I generally try and answer most things with at least some degree of intelligence (based on my own limitations of course
).
Cheers
