I would have thought that those who believe in small government and laissez-faire economics would understand most easily what genuine freedom is.

Yes, but with freedom comes responsibility from chaos.
True freedom is chaos and it takes a responsible, civil civilian (double-talk?) to choose what is morally right and wrong.
This is why the world held it's breath during the elections.
Now that we know where the pieces lie, the next progressive step can be taken.
Lets just hope the dance doesn't stop altogether...

What did America just say to the world today?

They said that they support a strong leader and a man of spiritual strength, who believes in God and has strong morals and ethics. That is exactly what America said and it must be quite painful in the ears of all the unbelieving liberals.

This is a victory for all of the faithful christians of america.

It's intersting that more young people came out to vote for Bush than did Kerry in the end because they stood up for their moral christian beliefs. The liberal youth of america stayed home and played Xbox. I guess the lib celebs like the rappers and the Springsteens didn't mean much or maybe it's that they decided to vote Bush instead because of their moral conscience? hmmm...

What does all of this mean now? It means Bush is not only the strongest leader since FDR IMO but quite possibly the most powerful U.S. president in generations. Strong Republican domination of Senate, House and soon presidential appointments to the judiciary branch. This is indeed a great day for conservative america! Don't get me wrong now, I support a balance of power with checks and balances but it has been sickening in recent times how this partisan gridlock has hindered the advancement and betterment of our nation. Bush has enough power now to accomplish most anything he has planned. If Bush wants to add an ammendment to the constitution to ban gay marriage he now has the power to do that and many other things.

What the world saw with this election is that there is indeed a division in the USA, but that division is the division religious belief in america. This is the fact. This was a battle between faithful christian america and unfaithful or non-christian america and if you don't believe this you are just plain ignorant or in denial. The opposition opposed Bush because of his beliefs and strong morals. I don't really think it was so much about Iraq honestly. I believe now that was mostly a liberal front. It could have been donald duck instead of Kerry and it would have made no difference. They voted to oppose Bush and everything christian that he represents. This is the other side of america. As much as liberal america would like everyone to believe, a moral christian america is still very much alive and strong.

God bless America.

Kiss my liberal ass choirboy.
Unlike you, many of us did actually make a decision which wasn't based on Bush's supposed beliefs or morals, but on actual issues. you don't think it was really about Iraq? we're at WAR, is it so freakin hard to believe some people may not actually agree with the war, or the way its being run?
What if i made this assumption: relgious conservatives dont really care about morals or issues, theyre just voting for their own bigoted satisfaction of seeing the hundred thousand iraqis being slaughetered halfway across the world?

and you talk about unity and shaking hands like good sportsmen after slandering the 50 million americans who decided to share a different view from you. It's so funny to see this religous nut preach morals as his rhetoric reaks of lies and ignorance

P.S Kerry won the majority of voters 18-29

in case you need a translation: http://www.whitehouse.org/news/2004/110304.asp

i'll draw the obvious parallels of the nazis and fascists having such popular support, certainly a majority. maybe a christian or religious mandate has been given. i suspected for a long time that bush was trying to bring this about. makes me that much more eager to get out of this country immediately.

i've done little other than feel sad all day. i don't know how else to feel when it's been proven that this country doesn't care about anyone's rights, privacies or freedoms. as a majority, we're as narrow-minded, paranoid, ignorant and brainwashed as everyone says we are.

And Bush doesnt care, Hes a businessman. As long as his company is doing well and making money, he couldnt give a shit. Ur going to bankrupt yourselves. The Days of the US as a huge world power are numbered

After the Bretton Woods Agreement in the '70s, everything is tied to the U.S. dollar. I proudly live in a blue state, so I cannot take any blame for who's in charge of the country.

You wish harm on America, you wish for your own demise. That's especially true for Canada, but absolutely true for rest of the world as well. By the way, rather than wishing for our demise, if you hate America so much, why not do something to help bring it about? Oh wait, you can't. All you can do is sit around and bitch about what someone else is doing.

Perhaps if other nations in this world did something rather than bitched about it, we'd take notice. But you need us as much as we, yes, we need you. And your personal vendetta against America will go no further than a post, a sneer, or a swear.

By the way, with all of the crap that's going on in the world, the US still has the healthiest economy in the Western world. You're not gaining economically - you're getting further behind.

Please take note world:

This is a President elected by Rural White and Southern White American voters.

The President made large efforts to get as many of these voters to support his religious agenda; which ironically has no solid relationship with the Christian faith. He kills people in a War which is not in accord with the Christian faith but proclaims his righteousness in his stand against gays.

That type of duplicity in religion ( which bares slim resemblance to Christianity) garners support from Southern American voters which also have a weird or misinformed understanding of Christianity .

The importance a religious movement for Bush was his strategy to convince stupid southern Americans what the true definition of religion and politics should be.

This was an important step because Southerns could be convinced what to believe in their religion. This was possible because with the lowest literacy rates in America ; Southerns rarely if ever read the bible. They rely on Evangelists to tell them what is right and wrong. They are sheep in this religious propaganda.

Thus Bush was clever not to mention to these same Southern voters how their own religion does not condemn his tax cuts, his disregard for the poor, and policies abroad.

The Bush brainwash for the south worked well on these idiots because obviously his entire economic policy was against their own interest. But his one issue on anti-gay marriage became the most important issue for them. They were convinced that they would rather live in poverty and stupidity than allows gays to have rights. But dont be surprised. These are the same white southern voters who believed blacks should not have rights either.

Please take note :

The entire North Eastern United States , California, Washington, Oregon, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Minnesota voted Kerry.

All Southern States voted bush too (exception for Ohio, Iowa, and Missouri which voted for Bush by slim margins).

Please put your anger to the Southern White Americans not all Americans. The problem and stupidity of America lies within this area of America.

Thank You

American Citizen

That isnt logical tho, many people that bitch about america is against their world police role. What to do except complain about it? Its not like it would make sense to start a war against america or something...

Oh, and btw kamil, you need to reconsider your views. You gain nothing from a USA that is falling apart.

Very nicely put. Time for a revolution + new government system? The only problem is to choose the government type... Anyone know anything better than democracy?

A real one instead of just an illusion perhaps?

Canada is the only coutry that has ever invaded America and burned down the white house. You Canucks should must be very proud, heh.

Lets not hate each other over all this governmental crap so much please. All the harsh comments are getting very ugly. There is no one branch of Americans that all the hate needs to be directed to, our opinions are scattered all acrosss the map despite your pretty little picture from CNN. For example, I am a southern american who didn't vote bush.

This sudden increase in the amount of hate that is flying around is just as backwards as the shit that is happening in the gov't. If you really think you are so much better then the gov't, then drop the hate!

Yeah, except the target is completely wrong. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Look at the county map. There are plenty of well-populated areas NOT in the South that voted for Bush. You don't win an election by 4m votes, with huge turnout, and do it by only winning the South. You'd like to think 59m crackers elected the President...you'd better re-evaluate your conclusions.

FYI to those who haven't been to the US or who haven't been to the South...the South ends at the Mississippi. Texas, Arizona, Nevada, and New Mexico are not "southern" states in the political sense of the word. They developed completely independent of the states East of the mighty Miss and south of the Mason-Dixon. The dynamics of their populations are completely different from Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama, etc.

Funniest, and most incorrect statement I've read thus far...

How far up your ass can you get your head, Dave? I'm impressed.
