Southern states have the lowest literacy rates in America.

Southern states live in greatest poverty than most other states in America.

Southern states have the lowest income per household than most other states in America.



That said.


What I find amazing is these same people would vote for a president which does not support greater efforts to improve the education system, a president which does not support efforts to improve the living standard of the poor, and a president which favors big business over the common person.


I also find it amazing that Midwestern farm states voted for Bush even though he has supported efforts to enrich large multi-national agricultural farms at the expense of smaller and more common American farmers.


Their support of Bush was a mandate to move against their own economic and social interest.

One word can describe these people; Stupid.

Let me clear something up for you.

Yankees = Stupid Americans

Stupid Americans support Bush

You support bush so therefore you are a stupid American Yankee!

Ok I am sorry but let me just help you out


Yankee is a term coined during the civil war. The Southerns used it to describe the Northerns. I think it was because it rhymed with New York, which was a northern state. This is the reason why the New York baseball team is called the New York Yankees.

Confederate is a term coined during the civil war as well. The Notherners used it to describe the southern people. The southern people also named their flag the confederate flag.

(can someone please provide a picture of the confederate flag just to help illustrate. )


These are the definitions of Yankee and Confederate.

I was questioning your claims for the origins of the words, not necessarily their context.

Yankee

The phrase was probably popularized by the English in the song Yankee Doodle Dandee to describe New Yorkers, and perhaps, all (Northern) Americans in the colonies.

The term probably originated in old New Amsterdam, New Holland and New York, in the Mid-Atlantic. It then was adopted by the British to describe (Northern) colonists. In the Civil War, the phrase referred to all residents and soldiers of northern or free states, usually used derisively by rebel troops and secession sympathizers.

Confederate

1. A confederacy is a form of government formed as a union of political organizations, though it differs from a republic in that the separate political units retain a greater degree of sovereignty over themselves.

2. A confederacy can also be a group of individuals operating for a common cause, usually perceived to be a negative term.
