That zany Miachel Moore
The one we all adore
He makes a lot of mistakes
While eating dozens of cakes
He's that crazy Miachel Mooore!

I like Rand, Rand doesn't like Nietzsche for many reasons, which I happen to agree with. It's a philosophical thing. I don't believe in the whole moral imperative thing among others. I'm a selfish, capitalist pig.

Damn it, Shakka, you're confused again. You're thinking about Kant, not Nietzsche! They're similar, but not the same.

My apologies, Neo, I realized this in the car on the way home. I still don't think I'm wild about Nietzsche, but I don't have my hands around him as clearly at the moment.

Hey, no problem. Even if you knew Nietzsche and didn't like him that would be cool. It would be a pretty boring place if everyone liked what I did. I just like to know why people think differently if they do. I try not to aim to change people's opinion, just state mine as clearly as possible while challenging theirs. If that makes sense.

Similar? SIMILAR? Why on Earth would you lump one of the greatest intellects ever to walk the planet with one of the figure heads of the romantic movement - the second best shot at burying reason of all time? Tell me on what points do they share traits, except for them both being Germans living within a hundred year period?

On topic:
quote:
"We want to get cameras rolling now and have it ready in two-three years," Moore says. "We want to document and commercialize it. Fifty-one percent of the American people lacked information (in this election) and we want to educate and enlighten them. They weren't told the truth.

Apparently, it doesn't matter if US citizens are aware of the facts. They have had access to the truth for the last four years, but they chose to focus on keeping down gays' right to marry, "supporting the troops" by demonstrating unquestioning allegiance to the president, and that "God is in the White House".
As much as I admire MM for being a brilliant manipulator, a technically flawless movie maker, and having the guts to stand up for what he believes in, it doesn't matter how many people he gets his "information" out to. The large majority of US voters will still be to stupid to reflect on it or go and vote.

EDIT: speedracer: For once I agree with you. Kamil does need a brain. Shows that supporting Bush might be a sufficient condition for being stupid, but apparently not a necessary one

Posted by kamil on Nov-12-2004 08:37:

^??? i never supported bush

How do those feet taste?

Oh well, this should be another good laugh at the cinema.

Posted by occrider on Nov-12-2004 18:03:

I blame conservatives for giving Moore the excuse to make another crappy film.

As he said himself, he is in this for the commercial aspect as well as any political change he dreams he can bring. He profits from his flock of the disillusioned and forces the rest of us to watch his painful display.

My "fixation" with Mr. Moore is quite the opposite, I just want him to go away, but it's hard to ignore the fat loud man.

Well, I just watched the Fahrenheit 9/11 today, and I think it paints a pretty clear picture of the state that US and its people are in at the moment - FUCKED BY THEMSELVES UP THE ASS!

And whoever comes here and says that everything that happened in the last decade or two in the States hasn't had the MONEY and POWER as underlying motives is an ignorant idiot and deserves to spend the rest of his poor ass life living in fear, taxed to his balls, without any health care coverage, wondering if he'll have enough money to survive 3 months from now. Yeah, go ahead and blame Bin Laden and Al Qaeda for that, stupid fools...

Posted by sensorium on Dec-31-2004 03:27:

Not just fools but stupid fools. Wow. Clever post.

Posted by Crazy Serb on Dec-31-2004 03:36:

btw, it would be nice to see in 2005 Al Qaeda actually do something instead of just sending out tapes... like blow up a few oil wells here and there, fuck up that deal for the pipeline bringing in all that oil to the States... I'm just curious how would that affect the big players in this business.

so now i will do something different, defend the US

first of all, michel moore is a funny guy and he do have a point most times, but his movies/books/whatever are very biased to make his point. So dont take it literally.

second, yes the US is very much about money, and so is canada and much of the rest of the western world. we do however enjoy much that we couldnt enjoy if it werent for all the money and the strive for them.

im not saying that americas health care system is the way to go, or anything like that, very much the opposite, but you are exaggerating the situation very much...

and who is not biased in today's world? everyone is on one side or another, everyone has a subjective view on most situations... as someone mentioned "objectivity is a mirage".

and don't take his points literally? ok, how else would you take them? metaphorically? what is that, science fiction he brought up in his movies/books? get real, brother, and stop denying it...

that is very true, everyone is biased, thats why you shouldnt watch anything and base your opinion on that single fact without looking up the couterfacts...

moore is oversimplificating to make his point strong (the points which most of them i would probably agree with), i dont really blame him, but its stupid to say that "it gave a clear picture of the state of the US" and that they have "FUCKED BY THEMSELVES UP THE ASS"

there is always another side of the story...

Posted by kaffeemeister on Dec-31-2004 07:17:

If knowledge and the absolute truth was that obvious, and easily obtainable to every individual living on this world, i do not know where the world would be headed .

Michael Moore's generalization and his tendencies to do so in his so-called "documentaries" make people who are use to exploiting logical fallacies out of the haystack seem like a stroll around the park.

People who do not take whatever they are givin' view Michael Moore's Fahrenheit 951 as some sort of entertaining comedy/joke; as it is somewhat obvious that the reasons to invade Iraq isn't as simple as 'Destroying Weapons of Mass Destruction".

Every god damn person is bias in one way or another, if you see his "documentary" as a balance from popular views, than let it be ... But if you begin to take the "documentary" word by word, than you are as ignorant as people who take biblical/religious scriptures literarlly.

no, you shouldn't, and don't automatically assume that my opinion expressed above is based ONLY on the Moore's material...

I know... and the way we would be headed to WOULD NOT involve all this propaganda in the media, all the politicians' cover-ups and corruptions, government's bullshit, wars, confrontations, threats of nuclear threats, etc.

Unfortunatelly, the truth is very hard to find, especially when there are people with money and power working towards hiding as much of it as possible, mostly for their own selfish and greedy interests.

Posted by Sevas Stra on Dec-31-2004 16:49:

Michael Moor doesn't help you find the truth, he shoves his own personel ideas into your head to make a quick buck. He isn't any more the truth than the NRA or The Bush Administration. He is just about as much of a media puppet and at the same time a mass media pupettier as the fake CNN documents and Consipiricy theories thought up by a hippie who lives in a shack somewhere in nebraska.
