I don't have a fav DJ. I just realize that Tiesto is far below many in the skills department. You know what I can't stand? You can be good and popular, but being popular doesn't automatically make it good.

First of all, even though there are better underdogs too, not all of us are talking about underdogs.

There are big name dj's such as those I previously listed (Sasha, Digweed, Graham, Cattaneo, Kleinenburg and even Armin within the trance genre) that simply are better than Tijs. Brittany Spears is really popular, but how good of a singer is she really?

I don't know that I qualify as a basher, because I'll admit the things he does well. However, I am a realist and he has room for a lot of improvement. I hear what you are saying about the EDM community growing, but I don't know that I'm happy about having a bunch of sheep join our scene. More unknowledgeable fans that don't know who Hernan Cattaneo or Max Graham are, but suck Tiesto, Oakie and PVD's dicks. I prefer rounded fans that can be critical without, necessarily, bashing, but being honest about a dj that lacks technical merit. Tiesto did a lot to bring me into the scene and I will always love him for that, but I have progressed and my tastes have progressed. I'm not even talking the kind of music he plays, but the way he plays it.

Tiesto might not be a good dj, but he plays better trance than many. Or, at least, he used to.

You just hate Tiesto because he is the most mainstream DJ right now. As you would hate any such DJ that is on top. You would of hated Oakie when he was the man, you would of hated PvD when he was the man and so on.

You are an elitist that thinks you are some how more of a trance fan because you hate the "in" thing of the moment. I guarantee if your most listened to DJ was as popular as Tiesto you would hate him as well. Pathetic.

Why should I be happy for someone I've never met, who plays music I don't like and gets undue credit.

Sorry mate but you need to take the tiesto goggles off and see the world from a different angle. Putting peoples criticisms of dj tiesto down to petty jealousys is not only ignorant but quite stupid as well.

I respect most people in life - that doesn't mean I have to like them. Now please think before you post such one sided tripe.

Seriously man if you like it underground so much why do you even post about? All you do is have people argue back at your drivvle which in turn keeps the threads going which in turns makes Tiesto's name in the top thread of the music discussion which in turn makes Tiesto more popular...the hypocrisy...

Fact is - you are a wannnbe elitist who thinks by bashing popular DJs that you will gain some sort of pathetic respect from some pimple faced kid sitting behind his Dell and his $9.99 headphones sifting through Tranceaddict. People like yourself make the scene crap because you are in it for the wrong reasons. People who like it underground don't bash as much as you. They listen to what they like and leave everything else to the masses. I still don't understand why people can't simply pass up a thread if they are opposed to the subject matter. Sure you may get tired of seeing the same old thing over and over, but as long as TA keeps growing and new people keep joining and posting expect to see more and more of these kinds of threads.






We are a poor community when it comes to supporting our EDM artists. At least they are trying to provide something to us. What are the rest of you doing? At the end of the day Tiesto is still Tiesto. He is still ranked the #1 in the world regardless of whether or not you think he deserves it. He still tours the world and fills stadiums. He still produces music. You may hate him as a DJ and as a producer but I can assure you that your bitching on a message board will never take any of that way from him. The fact that you know his name and have heard his music says something on its own. At the end of the day he is still Tiesto and you are still a hater on a message board. Try moving onto another thread of something that is of interest to you (that you actually support) and post something positive for a change. Surely that won't kill you.

Actually you are wrong. He was doing it before, but in '98 he started playing more commercial trance than before, or at least, that's when he had his first big pop trance break at innercity.

The DJ's I listen to are both popular and underground, but they are always good.

Wow. This guy actually thinks Intolerance and Ignorance are synonyms? I won't go to dictionary.com to cut and paste the definitions here, because i'm sure you will be able to concentrate your few remaining braincells hard enough to check it out yourself and find out how stupid you are.

I agree with this to a large extent and to what Tiesto14 has said. However, it is annoying to hear people, obviously blinded by the hype, praise Tiesto so one-sidedly. You can be a Tiesto fan and admit that he's not a phenomenal mixer. That just means that technical mixing isn't as important to you, or that you don't hear all of the mistakes (you meant as a general term, not you Amber). I just can't sit by the wayside if someone tries to call Tiesto a better dj than Sasha. Saying he plays a style that you like better is fair. But Sasha is ten times better. That is clear to anyone who really understands mixing. They both program well and play good tracks (within their genres), but Sasha is far superior technically.

I know this didn't come up in here, but I hear those kinds of comments all the time. It's a little bit frustrating. We should be able to give our honest opinions, as long as we aren't just flaming. Substantiate your claims and be constructive, yet honest.
