ratm are the best band ever....along with radiohead and smashing pumpkins
and have you heard tom morello and he can do with his guitar?
at least he can pull more dj tricks than allmost all trance djs combined....

That is the whole point of having music genres. Generally, if you don't religously listen to a certain genre of music, it will all sound about the same to you. That's why they are in a specific genre...

To me, as a person who doesn't listen to modern rock/punk whatever it is called RATM songs sound very similar to me. Sorry - I can't help that.
Anyway , 70's/80's rock is miles better than modern stuff IMO.

I dont feel offended though - my friend can except the skill and talent required to produce Trance music - while I can appreciate that it is difficult to play the guitar very well.

Let's clarify. Old Rage used to rock and had a lot of variety. I think their sound got a little played out after Evil Empire. However, RATM - Self titled and EE were amazing albums with a lot of variety.

I still like Metallica better than RATM, but they're both great bands. We have been listening to the hard rock station at work for the last two days and they play a lot of old Metallica and RATM. It's been kind of cool listening to this stuff again.

Of course, if your friend knows nothing about trance and think that Benny Benassi would fit into trance, no wonder why he calls that repetitive!

(Living in a city where the only dominant "club" plays 85% hip-hop and 15% EDM (with +3/4 of it from Benassi), I can tell you for sure that its repetitive)
