So the concensus is basically he WAS better than he IS. Do you suppose this is because he is trying to win over new fans or something? I mean obviously his track selection isnt what it used to be, but then again, having been a dj myself for a while, the quality of new tunes these days aint what it used to be either. You really have to ask yourself, could you do better? And on top of that, assuming he knows how all of his established fans feel, why does he not do anything different, seeing as how most people dont like what he is doing now? ANd his mixing? Please, listen to the third part of his in concert mix. AMAZING. When the man is on, he cannot be beat, when he is less than perfect, he gets critized all to hell. You just cant win tijs Im still a fan though, always will be.

well i think its partially nostalgia for most of us...im amazed Laushinamee or anyone hasnt started a flame war in here yet really.

but i think it depends on when you found tiesto, trance, et al. tiesto seems to have ALWAYS been about getting new people into trance. hell that little (tiesto remix) on the back of Oakies Another World is what led me to TA! and i dont know if that is good or bad, it certainly explains the Oakish tendencies he exhibits - why not follow in the footsteps of another DJ that has brought new people in.

as for Cyrus saying wed all flame Zabiela if he was popular, i would say yes - some people definitely would and likely already do. but just because people branch out or their tastes change, whos to blame?

does everyone listen to the same music that you did 5 years ago? perhaps, but not in the same amounts and fashion.

my only beef with flaming and talking shit is people that never seem to support or acknowledge anything GOOD or that THEY LIKE!

i like to learn about the scene and music as much as possible before passing judgement, ie why ive never called tiesto a massive prick or anything. ive not met him, nor seen him live.

i think people chalk specific circumstances be it rudeness, trainwrecks, one bad show and then generalize beyond reason.

that all being said, i havent much listened to tiesto after ISOS3, just changing tastes. (and the one benefit of seeing lesser known DJs like Sander or Zabiela is that you actually HAVE ROOM TO DANCE at their parties!!) i dont even see Sasha much anymore tho i would like to since he is just too popular, as tiesto has become|

Although I haven't been listening to him for some time (i.e., some years, except for his artist albums) there's still some good stuff by him about

Best track: probably Suburban train
Best collaboration: Vimana - We came
Best CD: Definitely ISOS 2
Best remix: tough call between his Adagio for strings remix and Silence
Gig (attended): TIC 1 was good (mainly due to all other TAs there though), he was a good closing act at Massive 26-02-2000 as well (after Digweed completely stunned me).

Favorite Original - DJ Tiesto - Sparkles (Original Mix)

Favorite Remix - Silence, The Roc Project feat. Tina Arena - Never

Favorite artist album - {none}

Favorite Mix CD - Magik 4, Forbidden Paradise 4

Favorite Live Set - None really stand out, so Ill jump on the Magik 6 bandwagon.

Thing I dislike: His increasingly profiteering attitude towards the EDM world, and his exploitation of name familiarity to enrich himself with minimal effort. Also, he drops too many of his own songs in his own sets. (Just) Be a little humble.

Thing I admire most about Tiesto: Playing the opening ceremony at the olympics. Though I didnt like the set and dont really appreciate the mant at that time, this was no small accomplishment.

Re: Tiesto fans unite! Fave song, album?

Fave song- I'd be tempted to go straight for Suburban Train but that seems like such an unoriginal decision ... there's loads by him I like and they far outweigh the ones I don't like. I like some of his newer material too.

Best remix- Same as above only with Silence ... close call with Southern Sun and Goldenscan - Sunrise though.

Best cd- Agreed on ISOS2, although I do have a soft spot for Magik 3: Far From Earth

Best liveset- Dance Valley 2003... it's only the last 45 mins of the set and it's totally ruined by the radio jingles, but it owns me everytime I hear it, every transition epitomises what I like about his mixing & tune selection. He had the closing slot on the mainstage, and knowing what it's like there after going to DV2004... christ I'd have paid obscene amounts of money to be there. Can't forget TIC 2 part 2 also... so many great moments in that.

Thing I hate most about tiesto- What most others have said, basically... regarding the fame/egotism/commericalism. Rarely being able to talk openly about his stuff without people badmouthing it.

Song - not sure...maybe flight 643

Remix - Easily silence....dont know if i will feel the same about another song ever...

Mix - Magik 6

I just bought his parade of athletes cd, and i think its pretty good. Some songs really stand out, coming home is i think really good. Honestly someone on here said we fans all stick by because of nostalgia and i think that is definitely true. I heard ISOS 2 last night in my friends car(he just discovered trance, and he was basically turned by tiesto. Werent we all? LOL) and honestly i could have cried. I can remember where i was the first time i heard that mix, i remember driving across the country by myself to see a girl i was in love with, and i listened to that cd over and over the whole way there. His music today seems to lack the depth it once had, im really not sure why it is i feel that way but i dont get the feeling hes putting 100 percent into his mixes anymore like he used to. But he's the only dj who ever "reached" me and for that fact alone ill always be a #1 fan. I remember reading somehwere that his new goal was to spin only music he himself made, he accomplished this with the parade of athletes cd, and i think this will kill his career. His songs are all different, yet still the same somehow, and without the depth and range his selection used to have, i think he'll lose his fan base and fall away. I could be wrong, but i hope he goes back to his old self again. Whats wrong with spinning records other people produce? It doesnt make sense to me. His career was built on that, you dont fix something that isnt broken right? Im confused.

I found his recent work Just Be to be superior to In My Memory. It was more uplifting and felt more creative in my opinion than his last work.
