but today, nope

PentiumM (dothan) @ 2.0 Ghz > AthlonXP @ 2.2 Ghz > Pentium4 @ 2.8 Ghz

athlon 64 @ 3.2 Ghz is about the same as a pentium4 @ 5Ghz (both overclocked of course)

If you say so. Haven't seen the same performance in practical experience since I've owned computers of both types and both top of line, which you probably haven't. Nothing new will happen anyhow until Bill Gates releases the 64 bit Windows version.

speaking of intel going 64bit, the prescotts already have the 64-bit extensions, but they are disabled

I got it up to 3200 speeds, but it was unstable, and burned out after a week or so. The 2500+ is notorious for being a very solid little chip, and overclocking like a champ.

hey, my stuff came early. you wouldnt happen to remember how high you got your 3000+ before it crapped out, wouldja?

LOL...I run a Barton 2400 with a Volcano 10 on top of it in a Thermaltake case....and since I don't have the need to overclock it the thing runs at room temperature...oh well...it looks nice anyway
