The 2005 Mustang is mine, i got it 2 weeks ago and it runs great. it's a V6 however...but i'm happy anyways since i've upgraded from 4 cyl. But GT woulda kicked ass but $5000 makes a big difference on the payments.

I've said this car looked like shit, but when i saw it in real life and got in it, i totally changed my mind!!

I'll post pix soon.

Ah yes but which one has forced induction to make up for that lack of the extra 2 cylinders. And which one do you have to rev up to 6000+RPM's to make power?

Posted by Shemeck on Dec-06-2004 23:39:

subaru STI

starting (and you dont anything more to it) at 33, 000

300hp/300lb torque and 4 cylinders faster than carrera, and some ferrari (dont remember which one)

Posted by smokeape on Dec-07-2004 00:32:

I'd like to sit in one of the new Mustangs with the 1000w factory stereo option. They have a 510w option as well, must be the same as the one I got in my Ford Ranger pickup. Rocks hard and rocks f*cking too loud, but that 1000w just may be a step too far in that tiny little car...unless it's a covertible - yeah!

Dunno where you are looking at, but the Mustang 4.6L engine is capable of over 1000 HP on the stock block. I can only think of a few cars where that is a possibility. Supra's 2JZ-GTE, the Skyline's engine, the Corvette, and the Viper. Remember how easy to mod this engine is.

And with that. you get Subaru's extra reliable manual transmition and the easiest to work on car ever. Right?

I've been to the plant where they make the new Mustang (and a few other cars, I think)

If I were to get one, I would wait for a little bit. Like till after the initial roll out. trust me, you'll be alot better off.

read my post - i quoted from a post above it...
and i know im going to get flamed for this but yadda yadda yadda first off it's domestic next its a FORD - FIX OR REPAIR DAILY

Stangs were better off back when it was in the true american muscle category.

subaru for life - forced induc or not
I'd rather pay for a turbo'd 4banger then a normal aspirated 6

btw im a rally person so before you start flaming me as a ricer think twice...

and with the subaru you get a "look at me, i'm an asshole" spoiler that sticks up 3 feet off of the car.

jesus. i'd get a plain wrx over the sti due to the spoiler and mod from there.

i'm happy with my 2004 gt though. it's plenty quick and i know i can make a shitload faster.

So, I saw the 04 GTs prices were really low and I got one. Now I have more horsies than I would've with the 05 V6 and I actually paid less than I would've for the V6.

The 05s are still very cool looking cars. Just wish Ford would've been smart with handling options and supplies and such.

Actually, I cannot believe the American car industry... It is dying, choking in its own vomit, yet does nothing about it. Look at brands like Chevy, Ford, Buick, etc.... Who (under 50) buys Buick? What American car that has nice stying on the outside has the interior to go with it? (besides Chrysler).

I'm serious... look at the car like Ford Taurus... the new style. It's the most hideous, most uncomfortable, ugliest thing on the road. I remember lusting after the old Ford Taurus SHO. That was probably the last "decent" american car.

Or how about Pontiac Aztec? Or how about Buick Randevouz? What about the new Ford 500??? Who allows these cars to be made? What kind of serious drugs do these executives take to allow these cars to hit the street?

I love the way the new Mustang looks, yet, Im sure interior is complete shit. I also think that new Vette while looks hot on the outside, looks like crap inside... Oh, and the front 3/4 shot that is pictured in all advertisements makes it look like Mazda. Even my wife (who's not a car nut) noticed that. I showed it to her, she said "oh, is that a Mazda?"....

That's why japanese and european car companies will continue taking business away from american car industry. And then you have execs going like "huh? how come we're loosing money? why noone is buying our great cars? How come no one wants to buy our new Hummer when it gets whopping 8 Miles / gallon?"

Shame.... but unless something drastic happens, I don't think american car industry can last much longer in a face of such a stiff competition comming from european and asian car makers. Hell, even Hynday Tiburon looks hotter than Ford Focus or Chevy cobalt.

The only "hot" american cars are comming from a company that was on its deathbed because of how lame its products were. I'll give you a hint... This company also made the "500" model car... It also had names like "Reliant", "acclaim" and "K"... No?? - Chrysler. It took them some brave steps and look where they are now! Look at the new 300 car! It's a beast! Or Viper, or even Prowler!

Ford and GM should fire their design teams and get back to the business at hand - improving american car industry and making good products.

But I guess they will still continue making products for frigid conservative gray herd that currently buys this crap.

Shame, really...

Posted by guster on Dec-07-2004 17:22:

It's just a shame Daimler-Chrysler's products tend to die. Friend's Dodge - transmission went out. Our Dodge van - transmission went out. Uncle's Dodge truck - transmission went out.

I'm sure it's getting better, but so is Ford since Bill Ford took over. The interior of the new Mustang is a huge improvement. I agree for the most part though, American cars are bland and pretty shitty as a whole.

While Chrysler's new line looks good.. there's no way in hell I would buy anything from them, Dodge or Mercedes in my lifetime.

And don't get me started on GM. Only think decent from them is the Vette and I'm not too fond of the C6. GTO anyone? Yay for over-sized Cavaliers.

Posted by EarnYourKeep on Dec-07-2004 18:58:

GMC's Envoy is nice...

As per the STi huge wing...some say its fully functional over 120mph but realistically speaking who is going to be riding over 100mph? Literally 2% of drivers (at the most) will ever be driving at those speeds. My thought is that the wing is "ok" and does attribute to the rally concept that subaru is known for. The subaru rally heritage outlast any of its competitors. Cmon you evo owners...tell me dsm has played an important role in leading rally technology.

eclipse anyone ahem...owait did I mean to say the courgar? lols. subaru pre-bug eye has been one of the most original designed vehicles ever to be made. I'd put vettes and vipers in the same category along with higher priced/tier automobiles (lambos, ferrari's)

we are talking a sti full sedan (4doors) turning 300hp in my opinion one of the most dominant cars in it's class. so tell me how any 4door "common cars" on the road can put those numbers down? civic, accord, eclipse, gto, stangs, focuses, camry, maxima's, evo's, neon's srt-4, TL, g35, 350z, nothing in its car class really competes with it in numbers and styling. srt-4 is still a neon, and the evo looks like a civic on roids. the rest of the competition has dove into that spacious 4 door luxury car class. cmon the altima? did they stretch that out? the maxima's styling got butchered, sentra seR? u serious... so whether or not the wing looks retardo or not, it's still going to dominate the road.

and to pertain to the thread topic and also stated before...
the only stang worth my time would be the half year back when american muscle was the only category to be in....
american muscle died when fuel injection was brought to life and ultimately the death of the carborator.

Posted by guster on Dec-07-2004 20:21:

i'd still rather a cobra over an sti. stock cobras fun ~13.1 with very little money they can be brought to over 500hp putting the car in the high 11s.

no offence dude, but I don't think you know what you're talking about.

Buicks and other "grandpa" looking cars are made for specific market segments... some people want to have these cars!!! Lots of aged people love to have their cadillacs, Buicks and Lincoln! Like it or not!

And about the Taurus, did you know its one of the top 10 selling car in north america because so many companies buy them for their staff because the car does what its supposed to do. Run efficiently day in day out. I own a Taurus 2002, its not a very powerful car, but it gets me to work every day and more. I do Montreal-Toronto (550km) at 160km/H the whole way and I barely feel the damn road so much its comfortable. Everyone who gets in my car tells me how roomy the car is and how much the ride is pleasant (coming from maxima, Alero, jetta, E300, etc owners). After 77000 kms, the only things that I replaced are the brakes and a door handle because I got very rough on it.

The Ford 500 is an excellent car, its not made for ricers like you, its for people who want a comfortable and safe ride (awd).

And what luxury are you talking about in the japanese cars?? the civic? the corrola? the echo? sentra? luxury only come in lexus (fugly), acura and infinity (fugly)... and with a price too... and only the best european cars are exported to north america, leaving the crappy ones over there... with a nice price tag tooo... (doesn't apply to volkswagen because they're soooo crappy and need repairs daily).
