Originally posted by bubbleravegirl well firstly...the VODKAS -- I think Aquavit is "vodka" in Russian or some East European language (?) omg i am gonna TOTALLY embarrass myself here...i dun even know for sure...its been a few years since i went there welps i LOVE the chef, he is really innovative with his dishes -- and there is a great $65 prix fixe which includes dessert but if you dont get the prixfixe i remember always getting a free appetizer for tasting as well as a free dessert. all his dishes have a japanese twist to it...like u will find sashimi and other azn-inspired dishes also. and the desserts are to die for. but its pricey/upscale.
oh and Taub..if youre trying to get laid, go to palancinka for dessert...they serve the best crepes anywhere...

. like sometimes gourmet chefs will do this cuz they are testing out a new appetizer or dessert. the service there is exquisite btw. well wid the prix fixe a three course meal is cheaper but you cant choose what to have, its just FIXED...it would be more expensive if you ate a reg three course meal but then you can have whatever you want...what i like about their menu is that you will always see very interesting things on there. one time i chose a rhubarb sampling dessert place and that was so amazing...and then there was this cloudberry souffle dessert (its like..umm cloudberry, wat that?)

Originally posted by bubbleravegirl i think that place is WAAAY overrated and def too touristy. i mean its JUST dessert FFS there are PLENTY of cafes to go to that are romantic and out of the way (which makes for a MORE romantic place), try around McDougal Street in the Village or sumdin like dat and trunks is right -- that shiet is always overcrowded

Originally posted by trunks1022 lalo cafe (or is it cafe lalo... whatever) isn't bad... but i think a lot of the popularity from that comes from "you've got mail"

-- BUT everytime i go there during prime hours its f0ckin crowded too and the tables are DEF not spaced out like in "You've Got Mail". there was like NO one in that cafe during the movie. hahaah. its not realistic LOLS.

if you're willing to make the trek to Philly, you should definitely stop by Morimoto

edit: I just realized that out of all the restaurants I've been to in NYC, none of them were really amazing. All the really great restaurants I've been to were in Philly.
