-- RITM on or not

last minute plane ticket is to expensive and fuck driving
im not going ya have fun
Yep, it was on (I just got back).
Dave M & Berzerk threw DOWN. If you haven't seen them, I recommend it. For an early slot, they really got the crowd moving.
RonE then rocked the house. Good track selection, good mixing. I got increasingly annoyed with the guy with the mike trying to build the crowd up. "I WANNA SEE YOU BOUNCE..ON THE LEFT SIDE...ON THE RIGHT SIDE". If I wanted that sort of Mcing, I'd go to Paradox.
Then it was a RITM DJ set by Bunny, which fell flat.
Tracks ID'd:
Felix da Housecat "Watching Cars Go By (Cyberwhore)"
Peaches "Shake your dick, Shake your tits" (Oh, & I did)
Felix & Peaches back to back briefly shook the crowd out of their torpor. For a really unpublicized event with a super-underground map checkpoint, it was well attended. (700? ) But the crowd never ignited--I couldn't quite figure out why, & Bunny seemed frustrated.
For me, the lack of liquor was a negative. They only sold beer. It pained me to realize how much a rum & coke (or Vodka & RedBull) helps my experience. I never quite got into dancing. Maybe it's partly culture shock from being back from Guatemala.
TA's in attendance I talked to: Dave M, Dirk W, DeviantTXPete, deepTrance23
After Bunny, the cops requested the music get turned down. The MC led everyone in a chant quoting NWA "F the Police".
Well, we ended up getting to go...yay
I will post the pics from the party, IHOP with Ron-e, and the afterparty on my site either today or tomorrow.
The RITM set didn't do it for me the sound was very harsh up at the front of the venue. Highlight of the night besides being with all of my beautiful peoples was Berzerk vs Dave Molina. That set really took me by surprise and it was great to see the crowd getting into it that early. I felt sick the whole time but it was worth the drive. The "comedy" by the Arcangel was pricless too.
"this is a dolphin-free track"
priceless
bwahaha
I can't believe people were getting their panties in a wad about the dolphin comment too.
I was looking at the show flyer that Aaron left in my car. It clearly said "Rabbit in the Moon DJ SET
Wish I'd seen that flyer before the show, I would have had different expectations (ahem...Dirk).
Overall, happy I went.
Pluses: Respectful, interested crowd.
Interesting array of people. Haven't seen that many glowsticks/spinners since Burning Man.
Lack of Julios.
Negatives: $3 for a can of coke was ridiculous. They had a half open bottle of wine by the bar. I tried to buy some, the bartender declined. If the bartender doesn't want to sell you alcohol, you know it's seriously OFF.
bad show
For those of you wondering how it went:
It was really hyped up, it was supposed to be a good show. I only got there after RITM started, but was standing outside for a while waitin for a friend to come. The music I heard outside was great. The venue was more out on the middle of nowhere than say venues downtown or even Marketplace Austin. BUT the crowd never got fired up, the lighting/soundsystem just wasnt quite the best. The lighting was good but never was variable enough or high energy. I loved the green lasers on the left side of the stage but it wasnt enough. Then when it started to get good, police intervened, made them turn the music volume down which I think was a huge factor in the crowd not 'feeling' it. after that it was all downhill, RITM couldnt compensate although I do think it was partially their fault, they seemed unprepared and the mix messed up a few times. It really was a waste of the $20 or so for the ticket. I think law enforcement just caused the crowd and the show to lame up. What a waste.....although I really hope it doesnt discourage RITM to do another show in Austin. I bet they wouldn't want to though.
This is Joe (Berzerk); Dave and I had a blast up there. Thanks for the kind words and all the support!
Was a fun night. The opening acts tore it up, indeed.
I had a frikkin' blast. Thank you to everyone that made it out to support and the kind words are much appreciated.
Props to: Aaron, Edie, and Dirk. It was awesome meeting you guys in person. Pete and Jacob...always a pleasure.
Mad ass props to the Nice Guy for giving us a chance to play. I hope we did your party justice. Sorry you went through so much crap during the show with Law Enforcement and all.
Overall, I had a great time, but I wasn't feeling the RITM set as much. I think I was so happy talking to peeps I hadn't seen in wa while. It was like a giant family reunion.

I thought the party was pretty damn good (not just because I was on the lineup; I've played at shitty parties before and flamed them.) The crowd was pretty big and there was a good vibe in the room. The sound and lighting were more than adequate in my opinion. I talked to Bunny backstage and he said he had a fucking blast as well. Everyone involved went through a lot of shit to make the party happen and run as smooth as it did, so they get my respect.
the place had a definite old skool feel to it. i had ablast., joe and dave rep'd DCS very nicely. There was alot of shit that had t happen to make this happen, and it came off nicely. If i wanted to flame this event, well, it would be pointless. I could have said "oO no dnb" but well, what does it matter? the vibe was thick, the peeps were having a good time, I had a blast seeing old faces and making fun of dumb ass kids from some lame ass site. all in a all, great party, great vibe, big ups to teh nice guy
NiceGuy-I want to say thanks for going to all the effort to make the party happen. Aaron told me about some of the drama you went through, & your own account confirms there was even more than he knew.
I had my doubts about an AllAges Show, but everyone (of all ages) seemed respectful & considerate of others. Thanks again for putting this together.
Hmm i didn't think I'd get dogged that bad for just posting my opinion. By the way I did dance all night and was into the show as well. I stayed on the dancefloor 99% of the time I was there, just posting my point of view for thsoe who didnt make it and for those wondering how everyone else felt about the show. I went with three others and unfortunately they didn't have a good time either, but that's just the way it goes sometimes. One of my friends said it was the worst show he's been to. And he's REAL experienced in this scene, WAY more than I am. Anyways I KNOW that you guys went through hell b/c of law enforcement etc and I do respect that big time. Anyways I should have known to put my flamesuit on for that post. LIke i said, i didn't blame the producers, organizers or anything. The law enforcement really just dicked us.
Yall did good for what you had. I did not notice that it was just a DJ set so I hyped it up to be a lot more than it was (but hey, I got you more attendance!). So yea, everyone, that is not what Rabbit In the Moon is as a live performance.
I thought Bunny's tracks were awesome! I did notice a lot of people having a hard time getting into it.
Overall yall did great. Of course Dave already knows how badass I thought his set was (same goes for you Berzerk).
TMFT, Aaron, Dave and everyone else I know I am forgetting, great to meet yall! Pete, as always, it was fun. Okay, well I am exhausted so I'm cutting this off. Good times guys.
Don't forget about the BBQ boy!!! Good times...
