I use to go to street races... participated in one or two but most of the time I just watch. This was way before that Fast & Furious movie came out by the way. One time, I invited these girls to come out and watch... when the cops came, that got scared and ran home. The rest of us regrouped elsewhere and 'got it on'.
As for that hemi engine, I know a couple turbo imports that will eat that alive on the streets. I know a of 9 second supra and a 10 second eclipse...
Those hemi commercials make me sick... especially that one showing the durango outrunning a lotus esprit. Sorry but... Lotus > Dodge!!!
My pretty much stock turbo mr2 is not fast right now... best it could do was low 14s...
Give me time and money and I will be at least in the 11s... enough to smoke the usual V8 at the stoplights(I don't go to street races anymore). Either the local dragstrip or the occasional stoplight encounter. I guess I have 'grown up'... no longer a street racer but still a car nut!

Street racing is stupid, because there's practically no skill involved (besides shifting) - All that matters is how much money you have to put in your car.
If you really want to be badass, take your rice rocket to a track (a REAL track, not this NASCAR pussy oval bullshit) and race it there.

Dunno but I've seen a couple "ricey" mustangs and camaros... with altezzas and aluminum wings and nos stickers; usually on the V6 models too! I respect American cars; have a couple buddies with Saleen mustangs(well not real saleens, just the V8s with the bodykit, hood, wheels, etc.)and I wouldn't mind driving one of those.
I don't consider all imports rice but it seems the majority of Americans do... rice is only when you modify a car that is definitely not tasteful or appealing, but then again that differs from person to person. So I've seen ricey civics to integras to cavaliers to sunfires to mustangs.
Going in a straight line does take some skill(unless you're driving an auto; cause all you have to do is mash the gas pedal). Make sure your shift points are right and you launch at the right time and not red light the tree... but I agree, real racing is done on the track with curves and twists. Love watching F1 and touring car races on Speed. And JGTC is coming to Cali this month! I wish I lived in California because I could go and see some supras and skylines run their courses around a track!
Just remember... rice does not equal japanese imports(does this include european cars too?)!!! Cause if they do, then I'm calling all domestics potatoes!!!

Something about racing the car my mom would go pick up groceries in, is kind of a turn off.
I roll on 14 inch hubs niggas.
I guess some people(mainly Americans)will always prefer their V8s... too bad because there are some capable turbo 4s and 6s out there. Wrxs, evolutions, mr2s, supras, eclipses, skylines, etc. Most of these cars can do more than go fast in a straight line... they kill corners too.

my bro has a 350hp WRX upgraded turbo exhaust, everything. dope fuckin car. redid suspension and brakes first.
The reason the ricers piss me off is because they dont know what the fuck they are doing here is the order you tune your car in
1) BRAKING
2) CORNERING
3) POWER
everyone does it ass-fucking backwards. They try to make fun of muscle cars saying they cant corner worth shit...well neither can yours chief. All youve done is cut your springs and painted your calipers.
Euro cars like lotus i love. I dont like BMWs or Mercedes becuase they are too damn expensive to fix. and racing your car will require maintanence!
The IS300 market is ridiculous, you can read all you want on em but as soon as you supercharge it blows a cylinder. You can try the turbo conversion but thats a pain in the ass too. You have to piggy back the ECU upgrades to override its bullshit programming.
The reason people piss me off, and ive said it before in many of these threads, is that people are so hypocritical in their rants against other cars. They try to rule on class, one genre as supreme, and list all the reasons why. Then have NONE of those things in their cars that they espouse as belonging to this elite class. Look at GT and WRC races. Those are cars. Real cars. Those are the best of the best and the reason cover all the reasons cars are cars.
Everything else should be trying to live up to the ultimate street (GT) or rough/offroad racing (WRC) tune your car appropriately.
But i guarantee they guy who can out brake and out corner you will win in a real race.
