New Jeep Grand Cherokee 2005 Ltd. Ed. owns you!

well, yea, jeeps are great for general purpose use and longevity. after 12 years, its still running great. but, i raced one car on the Selmon Crosstown which is a two, three story highway the entire way winding through downtown tampa. i got my ass smoked, after about a minute the other car was out of sight. and i was going 90-95, the max a jeep from 1992 could go. they went to 110-115 i found out later.

I use to go to street races... participated in one or two but most of the time I just watch. This was way before that Fast & Furious movie came out by the way. One time, I invited these girls to come out and watch... when the cops came, that got scared and ran home. The rest of us regrouped elsewhere and 'got it on'.

As for that hemi engine, I know a couple turbo imports that will eat that alive on the streets. I know a of 9 second supra and a 10 second eclipse... Those hemi commercials make me sick... especially that one showing the durango outrunning a lotus esprit. Sorry but... Lotus > Dodge!!!

My pretty much stock turbo mr2 is not fast right now... best it could do was low 14s... Give me time and money and I will be at least in the 11s... enough to smoke the usual V8 at the stoplights(I don't go to street races anymore). Either the local dragstrip or the occasional stoplight encounter. I guess I have 'grown up'... no longer a street racer but still a car nut!

sometimes it just the thrill. why race against professionals who will beat u everytime with cars worth in the hundreds of thousands of dollars?? why not just race against the guy next door who just bought some new part to his car and wants to see how it runs now?? and why u gotta hate??

yeah well i'm already in the low 10's with just a .278 cam and 4.11 gears...haven't touched the heads yet and not even considerd nos...it's my summer time cruiser. and you can rice out a supra or elipse...but this is america...and Dodge, Chevy and Ford is what's it's all about.

Muscle cars > peking ravioli's

Posted by nrjizer on Dec-13-2004 03:49:

Street racing is stupid, because there's practically no skill involved (besides shifting) - All that matters is how much money you have to put in your car.

If you really want to be badass, take your rice rocket to a track (a REAL track, not this NASCAR pussy oval bullshit) and race it there.

Besides, drifting is the motorsport of kings!

new american muscle does leave a little to be desired...

but if you wanna talk about drifting...nothing like drifting around a chicane doing 80 miles an hour in a 2 ton beast that's 35 years old. and I aint from the south but everytime I drift i cant help but let out a giant "yee haw" a la bo and luke duke

Dunno but I've seen a couple "ricey" mustangs and camaros... with altezzas and aluminum wings and nos stickers; usually on the V6 models too! I respect American cars; have a couple buddies with Saleen mustangs(well not real saleens, just the V8s with the bodykit, hood, wheels, etc.)and I wouldn't mind driving one of those.

I don't consider all imports rice but it seems the majority of Americans do... rice is only when you modify a car that is definitely not tasteful or appealing, but then again that differs from person to person. So I've seen ricey civics to integras to cavaliers to sunfires to mustangs.

Going in a straight line does take some skill(unless you're driving an auto; cause all you have to do is mash the gas pedal). Make sure your shift points are right and you launch at the right time and not red light the tree... but I agree, real racing is done on the track with curves and twists. Love watching F1 and touring car races on Speed. And JGTC is coming to Cali this month! I wish I lived in California because I could go and see some supras and skylines run their courses around a track!

Just remember... rice does not equal japanese imports(does this include european cars too?)!!! Cause if they do, then I'm calling all domestics potatoes!!!

yes thats right, 'rice' is exactly what you have described. some people just don't know what the hell it is hence calling most imports rice. can you point me in the right direction as to find out more about this JGTC?

I gotta hate because its the ****** underground trying to pose as hetero sexual males who happen to like 4 bangers with turbos instead of man sized v8s pumping 2 gallons of gas a second. Its a bunch of pseudo asian wanna bes with no fucking pride who take the cheapest easiest way out of performance by racing against other shitty cars.

HEY DUDE CHECK OUT MY STREET LIGHT AND SOUND SYSTEM i spnet like 15 grand of my parents money!!!

fuck i hate those people and i feel better every time I see one lose in a race (a lot)

And dont try to bullshit me and tell me this is a bunch of friendly neighborhood "men" testing out the new toy they got for their car. They are trying to prove to tall the ho ass bitches who flock to these things that their penis -when erect- makes it outside of their body.

Its gay, its stupid, and its anything but a friendly manly competition. Bunch of fucking highschoolers who are gonna get their asses handed to them by the world in about oohhhh 10 years.

Something about racing the car my mom would go pick up groceries in, is kind of a turn off.

I roll on 14 inch hubs niggas.

Posted by AnonymousRacer on Dec-13-2004 22:29:

I guess some people(mainly Americans)will always prefer their V8s... too bad because there are some capable turbo 4s and 6s out there. Wrxs, evolutions, mr2s, supras, eclipses, skylines, etc. Most of these cars can do more than go fast in a straight line... they kill corners too.

Here is the official site for the upcoming(Dec. 18 & 19!) JGTC in America: http://www.jgtcusa.net/home.html This ain't Nascar!

"This series features production cars tuned to the max. Just to give you an idea, the top factory cars such as the Toyota Supra, Honda NSX and Nissan Fairlady Z cost close to $1.5 million apiece. JGTC cars are fast and stop on a dime. In fact many call them the most capable GT cars on the planet. And it is not just about Japanese manufacturers. JGTC represents BMW, Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini as well as Nissan, Honda, Toyota, Mazda and Subaru. And then there are purpose built sports cars you have probably never heard of such as the Vemac, Mosler and Autobacs Garaiya. Aside from the cars, JGTC features Japanese driving stars "Dori King" Tsuchiya, Orido and Taniguchi as well as a host of top European talent. The bottom line is that JGTC is hot and it is coming here."

Only if I was in Cali...

Btw, if I had 40k to blow on brand new car, this is the car I'd get...

A real driver's car, no more, no less.

Posted by Orbax on Dec-13-2004 23:13:

my bro has a 350hp WRX upgraded turbo exhaust, everything. dope fuckin car. redid suspension and brakes first.

The reason the ricers piss me off is because they dont know what the fuck they are doing here is the order you tune your car in

1) BRAKING

2) CORNERING

3) POWER

everyone does it ass-fucking backwards. They try to make fun of muscle cars saying they cant corner worth shit...well neither can yours chief. All youve done is cut your springs and painted your calipers.

Euro cars like lotus i love. I dont like BMWs or Mercedes becuase they are too damn expensive to fix. and racing your car will require maintanence!

The IS300 market is ridiculous, you can read all you want on em but as soon as you supercharge it blows a cylinder. You can try the turbo conversion but thats a pain in the ass too. You have to piggy back the ECU upgrades to override its bullshit programming.

The reason people piss me off, and ive said it before in many of these threads, is that people are so hypocritical in their rants against other cars. They try to rule on class, one genre as supreme, and list all the reasons why. Then have NONE of those things in their cars that they espouse as belonging to this elite class. Look at GT and WRC races. Those are cars. Real cars. Those are the best of the best and the reason cover all the reasons cars are cars.

Everything else should be trying to live up to the ultimate street (GT) or rough/offroad racing (WRC) tune your car appropriately.

But i guarantee they guy who can out brake and out corner you will win in a real race.
