A realistic missle attack on the US in my opinion would probably come from some renagade state in the middle east or former USSR, not North Korea or China. Then again, this whole missle defence is a sham to hand out multi billion dollar contracts to defence contractors. The tests, like the plan itself is severely flawed, and wouldn't work if there ever was an attack.

Just another great way to spend tax payer dollars and keep the corporate juggernaut that is the US, ploughing ahead.

Conventional warefare using missles by countries like Iran are unlikely. Iran is no where near a match to the U.S or NK or China's military might, and they're aware of that.

What would be more likely would be a nuclear weapon smuggled into a nation and exploded from inside. The country that sponsored it will deny that they did, which opens a pandora's box of finger pointing. They can say it was a renegade terrorist group. Would the international community allow an entire country to be whiped out if it was just one group, say Hezbollah or Hamas? Hard questions really.

you forgot to account for the renegade Jihad groups that Shadowolf pointed out who intend to commandeer nuclear silo control facilities in rogue nations to launch ICBMs at targets in the US and among its allies and who care nothing for M.A.D. because 7 virgins await them in heaven !!

The russians have already developed a new ICBM that will be able to penetrate the missle defense shield even if it does get to work...it's a never ending arms race.

The missle defense shield isn't built agains terrorists by the way (Arab terrorists that you OBVIOUSLY refer to) but against countries like North Korea for ex.

By the way...if a nuclear mislle does fall in New York (for example)...you'll be fucked by all the radiation so I don't understand why are you SO happy about it?

Back in the 1950s we had developed high speed fighter planes to protect our country ( ie the Avro arrow) and we scapped it because of the Yanks.
This is not so much about common continental security but rather deferring some of the costs.

Fuck the missle shield. The Bomark missles in the 1950s failed anyways so whats the diff.

I would rather see billions of dollars be used for fancy wall paper in the queens private sex room then be used in this project.
