thanks! thats quite a complement.. thank u very much.. really nice to hear that..

sounds really nice man. i love the sounds you have goin on in here. i really didn't like the bass at first, but once you hit that groove at the 1:30 area this tune really gets going. this is the good solid prog that i've been playing out a lot recently. the hihat thats panned hard right and is reeeeally quiet seems to be a bit out of time, but its hard to tell with the low volume.

the breakdown could definitely stand to be shortened or livened up. the whole section after about 6:30 starts to get a little boring too.

overall very nice work.

Posted by Pjotr G on Jan-12-2005 10:24:

oh...this is where that snare on every 2nd kick comes from

The lead is long and "dragging", I would prefer something tight and rightmic on top, to get the speed going and to pick the track back out from the clouds again.

For the rest pretty decent track

Posted by moore on Jan-12-2005 16:22:

Sounds great, I dont think its too dry or too boring or anything.. Rather too melodic!

Posted by Subtle on Jan-12-2005 23:59:

tylerc: thx for the comment.. damn i got to pay attention to the stereo image.. (everything sounds so fucked up in my headphones.. so I dont use em) thx for pointing that out..

Piotr G: its the evil snare alright.. thx

moore: cool u dont find it boring, too melodic? (didnt expect that one)

Posted by Anaconda on Jan-13-2005 09:56:

oh!

this is amazing!

your percussions made me crazy really!

ownderful breakdown... nice and glorious pad

try it sendin this to some labels!

liked this very much

Posted by TonyZ on Jan-13-2005 10:38:

I'm not a fan of 10 minute epics, but this one is all right...

Sorta too electronik for my tastes. Some parts are really kickin though (eg. 3:00 mark) and pretty hot.

Sounds like something a guy'd play Counterstrike or Starcraft to :P

Not bad.

Posted by mef on Jan-13-2005 10:55:

Very nice pads in breakdown. Good percs, kinda shuffley (is that a real word? ) Cool fx too...

Good stuff as ever dude

Posted by Subtle on Jan-13-2005 14:22:

thx for the feedback everybody.. Anaconda: i might send it after shipping it over to a mastering studio.. which i dont have the money for atm.. glad u liked it..

TonyZ: LOL.. Counterstrike and Starcraft.. interesting observation

Mef: shuffley is not a word (i think)

I really like this song, excellent work you did.
Main melody is dark and dreamy, and there is an excellent groove in this song.
Would love to do a remix, maybe you could talk to me on msn?

Thanks

love the groove off the bass, really bouncy-can see a club bopping to this one. strings sound like a batman movie. break is going on a bit long now...hmm - bring back the beats.

ok it kicks in ok, not as sweet as pre-break.

8/10 nice production just lacks the "ooomph"

Posted by Subtle on Apr-06-2005 20:31:

thx John OC and Ricky M....

I really should get that finger out and update this track

Posted by almost on Apr-07-2005 12:33:

i don't normally reply to any of these cause i am slack tbh,

but i gotta say, this is a mad track, i see no need to edit it at all.

one of the best tracks to come from TA so far

thank u, that was a nice compliment..

absolutely fucking gr8 i love the percs i love the strings. im just feeling it... no need to do anything on this... only the point when the drums kick in, you should add an fx there. this is the more original thing ive heard here.

send me a midi if you like that would be awesome. but... then again any remix would suck with out the percs

Posted by thoughtlessjex on May-24-2005 06:13:

I think your acid in the intro could be a bit louder.

Other than that, it's pretty good.

Heh, "Marijuana." Heh.

track updated re mixes and finalized.. 320 kbps

Posted by Aquarian on Jun-19-2005 15:24:

At the very begining, my first impression was that is sounded pretty original - not like the cliche sound I'm used to. I kinda got bored halfway through the intro (it was good but far too long). The melody was good but it felt like it was a bit lacking in power (maybe a different kind of saw would do better). The rest was pretty well done.

Oh and - you got your artist and track name fields backwards in the tag

Posted by BshidoHEAT on Jun-19-2005 16:58:

Nice track, after the break I really got into it

Absolutely AWESOME! Nothing to complain about. Great work...

Posted by eulerfx on Jun-19-2005 22:03:

- i remember listening to this way before, and remember that first suggestion that came into my mind is to do a slight perc varion every 8 bars or so. just like a dum roll or something of the sort.
- i like the 'subtle' synth/fx work in the bg
- that transition into the second break is kind of to fast i think
- the strings complement the whole feel of the song nicely
- i felt i was a bit repetitive at times. though over the time that i've had it downloaded since u first posted it, it has grown on me

Just had to add my voice to the chorus, Great stuff! Everything has been said though...
The snare is great, it really adds space to the rhythm section.

Hey subtle,

Just listened to the track, it got so many reactions and therefore I expected a perfect track. Or do you get so many reactions because you are a site admin?

Anyways about your track. Not a whole lot happens. The intro is very very long and not very intresting because you hardly introduce any sounds other then the drums (percussionwise the track is really really good)

The break itself melodywise is quite simple but effective. A bit slow though. I expected a lot more to happen during the break though. But there is nothing that you add during the break and after reintroducing beat-percussion and bass you do not add anything either. That makes the song just drag on and becomes repetitive.

So my final conclussion is that this track is good percussion wise. But it lacks melodic energy and additional sounds, riffs, pads to really get my attention.

Cheers!

Hey mate,

I like the sounds and progression used in the intro though have to echo what others are saying, it does drag on maybe around 30 seconds longer than it should but its definately still a nice intro.

After that point it flows very nicely indeed, this tracks definately got a great progression to it and the drum beat and percussion is excellent.

The break is a bit too sudden for my liking really, after the nice progression before it I would have expected the same going into the break. That strings though are absolutely awesome though, works a treat. Needs a little something extra to take it on another level from after the break I reckon but again thats a point thats already been mentioned.

Maybe the kick could have a bit more punch to it also, but I guess thats my personal taste.

Very nice track though, flows nicely but needs a few more elements to it to sound really complete.

hey, thanks, I agree with the variations in every 8 bar, I guess removing the kickdrum once a while, and adding a reverbed crash here and there did it for me.. didnt think of it.. nice that it has grown on you, the best tracks does huh

hehe, Luke is t3h site admin, im just a wannabe, but maybe it helped i am quite satisfied with the reactions of this tune, some cant stand it, some love it, some thinks its ok, and some only likes parts of it.. it could definitely need an extra melody or pad, but i dont wanna overproduce the track...

thanks for feedback all!
