Well, Ferry himself is a bit tired of the scene, according to his recent interviews. On his album "right of way" he wanted to do something different and reception has been good but not as good as he expected.

Basically, Ferry is trying to move away from that "98 - 99" sound everyone has him pegeon-holled in and people are balking. I like his new stuff but I must say his older stuff is better. As far as some people saying he's overrated, well... you'll always have someone who likes or not likes what they hear.

It's all a matter of opinion; I could care less what others think... but that's just me....

I love the direction that the more classic trance pioneers are taking.. Trance itself needs an evolution, and I applaud Ferry for sticking his neck out to do so.

Ferry Corsten isn't a classic trance pioneer.

What I KNOW about "trance" and what YOU think about trance are two different things. I know you don't care about "trance". Why do you constantly feel the need to tell us this?

Nice one buddy. Yet what does that have to do with whether Ferry Corsten is a pioneer of classic trance or not? You're trying to change the subject Tuablahahawhatever. Of course, my basic definition of trance is hypnotic techno with less percussion and more melody. No uselessly banal breakdowns or grandiloquent melodies/vocals. Grandiloquent. I like that word, grandiloquent.

Ferry is cool, and people talk good and bad about every DJ around here so I wouldn't bother too much if I were you

Who said he was? Or are you just trying to pull another superiority demonstration on everyone?

Cheers, its a lot better when people actually quote the post they're debasing.

Once again some fool confuses a statement about music with a personal attack on someone.

Posted by euphoria on Dec-21-2004 16:46:

I love Ferry, but I like his less popular songs, for example...I do not like the song Rock your Body Rock as many others may disagree as it is so popular and well known.

If that's directed at me, I think you missed the point.

Posted by Radagast on Dec-21-2004 16:49:

That quoting someone is conducive to communication with them?

Yes... how is that a personal attack?

Posted by Radagast on Dec-21-2004 16:54:

I didn't debase him or his post.

You debased his notion that Ferry is a classical trance pioneer, in usual abrupt style. If you want to argue the semantics, you debased it because you just made a simple statement highlighting his error. You didn't offer a reason of why you thought he was wrong, or an example of what you consider correct.

Posted by Sinnica Hax on Dec-21-2004 17:09:

wrong? with Ferry?

!?

such lies!

All I have to say is

IIIIIIIIIIIIIINDIIIIIIIIIIIGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO wooooohoooo

Posted by Radagast on Dec-21-2004 17:12:

Something like...classic trance antedates the (trance)production and DJ career of Ferry Corsten, therefore it is impossible for him to have pioneered it? Who I consider to be a classic trance pioneer has no relevance when asserting that Ferry Corsten is not one.

True, but it is relevant to whether you were debasing someone's point of view. If you'd have said "FC isn't a classical trance pioneer because the style of trance he spearheaded is actually a lot different to true classic trance. I'd call someone like Jam el Mar a classic trance pioneer because he was making trance in the early 90s and helped shape the style", that's an informative, helpful post and you're giving a good reason for your (correct) opinion. However, what you put is simply debasing his point of view.
