Hahaha.. i rather put up with Hernan's intro than GDJB. I'm used to it.

In my opinion, yes.

The radio commentators on that station (party 93.1) are so shite. I was listening to PvD live in Miami at Space from this year which was being hosted by some dude called Buster...he totally ruined the set with his shit and redundant comments not taht it was an especially good set. has anyone heard this mix?..i think its in part 3.

i know what you mean. it was some dude named buster that kept on commenting on Paul van Dyk for shite's sake. i think he's gone now though

seems like im the only one who loves those intros

IMO the gdjb intro gives a great startoff and you cant await the first track to kick in. the only thing that doesnt fit is markus' sleepy voice after that powerful intro

Anyone listen to the Trance On Air episodes (Dj Guy Salama's weekly shows)... haha, even though I can't understand the voice- I think it's awesome the way it pans from left to right. His shows are sometimes posted on Dj2k, btw.

Yeah, and I like how they tend to blend it into the music better too.

The only reason you "can't await the first track" is because you want the announcer to stfu already!

I wouldn't mind it if the damn sound quality wasn't such shite. It just sounds like ass.

<----- Doesn't give a flying f*ck about station identifications.

I don't like the GDJB ones..quite irritating.
I kinda like the essential mix ones tho... they sound cooler.

Anyways, The Essential Mix has always had really good intros and the way the station ID is put in is awesome (does anyone know if they do that after the set is recorded, or is it live and done by the DJ on that episode?) Also, Pete Tong can make anything sound classy, and the timing of him saying stuff is great.

GDJB isnt that bad, but then again, I think I have maybe listened to it three or four times... So it hasnt worn on me.

pete tong has an amazing voice, it sounds so natural yet professional

in answer to your questions, it depends - the EMs are both live ones (ie recorded at an event like a club night or festival) and studio ones. i have no idea whether the studio mixes are mixed live (ie whilst the show is being aired) or pre-recorded. I suspect they are pre-recorded - most artists (and the BBC) and too professional to want anything that was less than 100% good to be broadcast, and doing a live set is prone to fuck-ups

edit: some studio mixes are mixed live (ie whilst it's being broadcast) - I know the Brothers in Rhythm (Seaman/Anderson) from mar 1994 is live, because Tong says so in the intro
