I thought your point was that markus doesn't play progressive, where I say he's style is very prog trancey. haha dream on mister. J00F is all about quality progtrance. Nothing can come near him. Just listen to his ASOT XXL set. Blending mix of prog and psytrance. And the psytrance he plays is nice and the way he pitches it down to give it a dark touch is great.

And no.. I Don't think Markus is progressive all the way, but he does tend to put that kind of element in his music.

They just seem pretty random, that's all. I mean, come on, it's not even hard to find goa/psy tracks. They're all over the place.

the closest genre to describe markus schulz would be


Progressive trance


the term progressive. It maybe fairly formulaic.. but then again everything is.. its called structure.

you can also use something called an adjective to describe the genre.. perhaps more progressive.. is what you are inclined towards.

so markus is style is more gradual and progressing.. then i guess umm someone like ferry corsten who goes from synth to synth back and forth etc


so progressive just means the music is gradually incrementing and changing.. more gradual as upposed to not being gradual

so progressive trance.. is melodic and building gradualy as opposed to trance in general

i think we all need to grow up abit here. this argument has basically escliated from mainly immaturity from certain people.

without ripping apart each of these words and disecting it with a magnifiying glass, id personally say schulz is generally melodic progressive.

most his stuff has a melody, you cannot denie this. it is also closer to progressive, than trance. schulz is closer to sasha, than he is to ferry corsten. mainly due to most his tunes are calmer and slower, closer to sasha, than full on trance like ferry.

now we could be kids and rip into all that but i think we should all be grown up enough not to.

I am going to tell you what the traditional definition of Progressive is, then I want you to STFU once and for all.

Progressive:

Forward thinking
less obvious
more subtle


Progressive in the term "Progressive Trance" is an adjective not a noun.

Meaning: less obvious trance, or subtle trance.

progressive rock is the same thing. You have your obvious rock and roll bullshit like Bon jovi, and then you had your progressive rock with groups like pink floyd.

So you see Ory, there can be such a thing as progressive trance. It just means it is trance in the less obvious way.
