I think I'm gonna start the probspot "Go on, give that other baseline a try" alliance

Hm.. I don't think you have to change your style completely like tiesto did, but you have to be a bit "flexible" and open to something new to get the people listen to your sound over a longer period of time, otherwise you will get maybe some "one hit wonders" with your unique sound which people haven't heard before and then fall on the face..

And probspot isn't the person I have expected to be mentioned in this thread, I think this guy is very talented and maybe his tracks sound a bit similar, but he is still very young and his style may certainly develop in the future..

ahh yeah fair point.. i think hes using the ashkan whatever his name is for the new stuff. but still, the same producer is varying his sound, i just hope it doesnt end here, and hes not producing funky house all his life. i expect his sound will keep varying.

best example of it working imo is Espen, half of Recluse which do sexy trance numbers, and produces housier/proggier stuff with elusive & many others and on his own, true talent there.

I think u guys are talkin bullshit MIKE is one of the best producers there is, his tracks are very varied. I suppose u think Strange World is the same as The Search for Freedom or the Leaden Day Remix the same as his Remix of Daze.

i think most of the best producers are the ones who can vary their sound... thats the way we need to go if we wana keep edm alive and kicking!

Satisfaction was a breath of fresh air for the more commercial dance scene, but everything since has been the same sound over and over...

first time ive agreed with you so far :P

satisfaction was original as fuck, a total ground breaker, but then once it sold 1000000000000000000000000000000 copies the sound was duplicated 100000000000000000000000 times... imagine the posibilities, if one producer can break ground with one unique track then why even bother sticking to one sound for all your life? im a big fan of experimenting and trying new ideas. and as i get more confident as a producer, i find it much easier to do this.

If this thread would have been posted about a year ago, I would have said Gabriel and Dresden, but 2004 has seen a bit of an evolution in their sound. This year my pick for repetitive production sound has to be Probspot.

I had that track on loop for months last year...

Mr schulz is surely a criminal in this thread as is mr avb. Most refreshing sound, prolly junkie xl.

i like it even now, after however many fucking times ive heard it, its sharp and i dont care how many people hate me for it, its a fucking good track.

Tranqulity sounds nothing like Talk like a stranger, I think Schulz has evolved.

For Armin, look at his remix of As The Rush Comes, it sounds nothing like Communicate 3.

Everyone producer has his signature. Just like every rock band has their signature. U2 is more guilty than any current producer because they still use the same formula after 20 years. But nobody complains about them.

If not: check out Robbie Rivera - Funk-a-tron, released about 2 years or even more before Satisfaction. You'll hear where Benny got his idea and sounds.
