lane you should try looking at this a few hours, days, weeks, years, w/e and then make an other post. im not attacking anymore just saying that you are close minded. and tell me something. whos better? the better instant dj or the average vinyl dj. if synch saves you time to invest on creativity there is no problem using it. just open your mind and think beyond what everyone else thinks is right.

and also because sasha has a name means he can be creative? i dont have a name so i cant be creative... or i cant bring something new and good.

apology accepted. frinds now .just think what i said because i said it in a friendly way

I guess all i can simply say is i'm sorry for posting without thinking..

My honest opinion is that using Traktor is great to learn how to mix, and practice, play around and have fun, but it is not a software that instantly makes you a "DJ"

The program can pretty much mix for you

It is a big slap in the face for DJs that work hard and dont get recognized, when a dj gets some software, and makes cds = Instant DJ

I should have not posted the bitter comment i did, but it just got to me, Traktor is a good software to try, but from past the trial, go out and get some equipment, and mix like the rest of us.

As for sasha, he has been mixing for 10+ years, and he is using software with his mixing, he isnt using Traktor and pressing Sync, hes using ableton which lets you be very innovative and pretty much do live remixes of tunes on the spot.
Sasha has been a respectable icon for very many years, and is only trying to re-invent himself to keep pleasing his audience.

Again, It was never my intention for a war or to hijack the thread, so once again, Im sorry for posting without thinking.

Keep up your drive to be a DJ pulsar, I'll be looking forward to your mixing on Tables

-Lane

After reading the whole thread, i have to agree with Lane. Anyone can buy some software and whack 15 tunes together, its not hard, and could be achieved with little effort. I would like to see most of you computer "DJ's" try and make a complete mix cd using a set of decks, i bet it would take most of you a couple of years to be able to make one that sounds anywhere near as good as your efforts on the computer!

You can now download my set from a very fast server. I think you would love that set .

Damn! I AGREE WITH YOU SO MUCH!!!

I was discriminated once.. because im using CDJs... n they say im uncool... n yeah i hope to say "is all about the sound!!!!" but i cant

Damn it! I hate it when people discriminate the tools that they are using!

*im not pointing to anyone here.. just wanna say what i feel*

BTW nice one DJ Pulsar like ur sets!

PEACE!!

Posted by DJ_Pulsar on Jan-06-2005 18:10:

Thanks. In a month there will be next volume of this set, but I'll make some changes in my hardware. I'm going to buy a professional DJ mixer and mix on 2 computers at the same time !!!

for me it doesnt matter with what he is playing it. if the man can dj on tracktor(in terms of creativity and fx and programing) better than sasha on decks ill still say that hes a better dj than sasha.
thats why i think what dj lane said was (at least) stupid.

then you my friend are not even worth talking to.

It may just be an opinion of yours, but to say a DJ is better than sasha when he is using a computer program to do a set is absurd.

Have you ever used traktor? have you ever used actual turntables/cdj's & a mixer?

clearly you havent used either.

a dj is someone who plays records, not someone who sits at a laptop choosing tracks to play an pressing a button to add a cool effect. I cant believe you would rather hear a computer program mix over someone like sasha.

I have used Traktor many times. I have never used turntables/cdj's & mixer, but I will do this in near future and probably mix using Final Scratch.

Posted by MrMarcellos on Jan-06-2005 20:02:

doesnt matter if its created by traktor or some like that.

Peace

Posted by Hooje on Jan-06-2005 20:06:

Have to agree - if the DJ that submitted this mix didn't mention what equipment he mixed it on, would you like the mix more?

I suppose there's two types of credability in DJ's - track selection and progression, technical skills and creativity.

It's possible to have alot of one and none of the other.

Just my opinion.

[Edit: This has no reference to the actual mix submitted - sorry for thread hi-jacking]

well my enlish fuck friend, read my post again.
and to make it easy...

yea i said that

and...

ill say it again cuz ur prob stupid. if using tracktor saves you time to invest on other things (sampling, fx, midi devices bla blah blah). there is nothing wrong using it. but even if you dont add fx or w/e and your set is better than some1 using tables mixer etc then i dont see the point of thinking that it isnt good cuz u used tracktor. what matters is the mix. everything else is for guys like you who get it up by watching the dj using turntables.

and. i started on tracktor then moved on tables + cds and i ordered rssl a few days ago... so stfu

now you can scratch your head and think "damn hes right"

What makes a good dj, is someone who can mix (by this i mean two vinyls, or possibly use something along the lines of final scratch) not sit behind a pc and be able to synch up tracks, and re edit their mix till they are happy with it and add efx! (The people who do the later are the ones you see in your local cheesey club).

Anyone can use a piece of software like tracktor! When was the last time you saw a top dj use traktor in a club?......mostly they use vinyl, and or CD-J's (or if your PVD final scratch (which i must add is an awesome piece of kit for those who know nothing about it!))

Posted by MrMarcellos on Jan-07-2005 17:57:

And how about BPM Studio Pro with 2 soundcards ( or a card with 2 diffent outputs) and an extended mixer?

What do you think of that?

you ppl are ..... w/e you dont understand... its all about the music. not the fucking vinyl and turntables. A DJ IS SOME1 WHO PLAYS THE MUSIC. HE MAKES THE TRACKLIST, MOOD, ADDS HIS OWN SOMETHING TO THE TRACKS, MAKEs THE PPL HAVE FUN.

For those of you that didnt beleive that man could fly, that we would go to the moon, that computer software is the future i think its time to think again.

im the dj, you dont see me play but you hear my set. its awesome (flow tl everyone dancing having good time etc etc. does it really matters if its vinyl or trackor?

the dj isnt a man who sits behind the turntables just to look cool. the dj is the man who plays the music. get it? just the music. it doesnt really matter how.
now i prefer the hard way. i find tracktor boring. thats the reason ive spend 10.000$ on a hobby that i might not get 1$ back.

is using cdjs newbie? you dont have skills? cuz u can just look at the bpm and adjust the pitch and there you go... you mixed two tracks together... you stupid noob

its nice to see you can hold a reasonable arguement, and respect other peoples points of view!

People are allowed different views, i guess you might learn that when you grow up.

To me a quality dj is someone i see playing in a club, who hits the breaks and doesnt fuck up a mix, and takes me on a well structured journey for a couple of hours.........not someone who can sit at a pc and produce a set with some piece of software, that anyone could master in a few hours.

Posted by dj jasonF on Jan-10-2005 16:30:

it was a joke to proove that cdjs are as easy as tracktor

so someone who takes you on a musical journey with a pc ist a dj? you just get a boner with the djs image. thats your journey i guess. could brintney be your favorite "artist" because she can shake it like no other when she sings?

ofcourse ppl have different opinions. the world would be really borring if we didnt. im just saying that it doesnt really matter what the dj is using to take you on the musical journey. and i didnt respcected lanes opinnion because he said it in a bad way...

now if it matters more to see a dj working than listening to the music... then i guess im wrong so...

btw i downloaded so many mixes these days and i dont know where i put it. so feedback when i listen.

So you'd be happy going to a club and hearing a pre recorded set?

And you really are a muppet arent you, you seem to have to resort to abuse to try and make yourself feel big......ah well i shall let you go and play with your "traktor" and i guess i shall see you when you are number 1 dj in the world !!!!!
