i think this is the movie ("real genius") where val kilmer plays an extremely smart dude, and falls in love with his teacher's daughter .. and his partner and him builds a super laser that can go through steel .. i saw it a couple of times on hbo and comedy central .. that is an underrated film there .. then again, i am a nerd, and tend to like cheesy movies .. hahahhaha
