I suggest that we have a separate poll for prog house / breaks and I'll take full responsibility for running it.

we should have one for crybabies too rob & let master ruin, sorry run it

Posted by Coup on Jan-21-2005 20:04:

ugh this is going well.

master stop fucking moaning for fucks sake. all ive ever seen u do on this forum, ever, is fucking moan. nothings ever right, this is wrong, this is a fix, what have i got to gain, or manipulating the results? fuck all.

second, i know that if i run track of the year, as i am the official body responsible i shall make sure all the deadlines are hit and etc else. the fact that 5 people have all ran it, and all 5 have made a mess at some point, is enough evidence for me to run it myself nxt year. and if i make a mess too, u can quote this and bring it back.

if the nominated tracks are shit, how is that either mine, ians, fundamental's, or any one individuals fault? thats what the collective voted for. if theyre shit, tough shit, fuck all can be done. and this nonsense that if someone only wanted to vote for 4 tracks, and voting for the 5th that was only mediore nackered the system is laffable. im sure if the person only wanted to vote for 4 tracks, they'd only write down 4.

im sure there was something else i wanted to kick off about that u posted but i cant remember it and i cant be arsed to go back and check either.

If we go with twosongs per vote in the future, I think an None of the Above option should be avaliable as one or both of the songs.

at a complete loss as to why everyone seems to be so obsessed with selecting one track of the year. what is so magical about one year?

a large problem that many have mentioned, is that if the award is conducted on a per-year basis, many tracks from the begining of the year will be forgotten.

this can be easily remedied by conducting two or four seasonal awards e.g. Every three, four, or every six months. That way, the tracks will be fresh in people's minds. this might creat other problems (such as when a track was released)

Of course, people have to get over their hang-up over the yearly thing to accept this, but this isn't to difficult.

Just a idea and i'm open to its criticism.

BTW any idea that tracks go head to head as though they sporting events is tripe. (No offence proponents.) I'd much prefer a an option for voting the top three and weighting them accrordingly and then just selecting the winner. Everyone just votes once and the votes are tallied. Top pick gets 3pts, second 2pts, third 1 pt. Plain and simple without the added heats. For instance:

TA#1
1. Energy 52 - Cafe Del Mar
2. Marco V - Stimulated
3. PPK - Resurrection

TA#2

1. Humate - Love Stimulation
2. Moby - Go
3. Energy 52 - Cafe Del Mar

TA#3

1. Marco V - Stimulated
2. Freefall - Skydive
3. Humate - Love Stimulation

and so forth...

Tabulated you'll get:

Marco V - Stimulated 5 pts
Energy 52 - Cafe Del Mar 4pts
Humate - Love Stimulation 4 pts
Freefall - Skydive 2 pts.
PPK - Resurrection 1 pt
Moby - Go 1pt

Final Rankings

First : Marco V - Stimulated
Second (tie): Energy 52 - Cafe Del Mar & Humate - Love Stimulation
Third: Freefall - Skydive
Fourth(tie): PPK - Resurrection & Moby - Go

I think this is more more simple and clean.

i have nothing against the uktas in this particular case. i have no idea why a bunch of uktas are the only ones defending the voting system either... interesting but that's not the case.

now ian has no fcking right to even give an opinion in this matter, as he was the fraudulent mind behind the miserable failure and idiotic idea of running the polls how he wanted.

and coup, if you're going to be so permeable about the suggestions then why the fck did you made this thread? stop defending the last voting system and at least tell us why don't you even consider the other ideas.

who choose you to run it? why don't we let people decide who will run it? what makes you different than anyone else? let the members decide which system they want. you already had the opportunity to run it.

Coup's done a great job modding polls for 4 years. TOTY is a Poll so it's automatically under his jurisdiction. Simple.

He's asking for ideas on a new system because it's fair in a democracy like TA to ask for improvements, nothing is perfect and he admits that, but until people come up with a better, foolproof system then the current one stays.

You have accused me again, but I only ran the polls like in the 2003 one, my only failing was trying to bring a broader range of styles into the poll to please the diverse tastes of many of the Older TAs.

I suggest a new person to run the system. It doesn't have to be a poll (like the flawless system I suggested) so it's not under anyone's "jurisdiction"

i was actually thinking about this thread earlier.. is this going to be like proposed here, splitting in jan/apr, may/aug, etc or like last year?

well is anyone going to reply or not? who is in charge here?

Coup himself is on a 3 week break visiting america & canada, so wait until he's back

Coup my top 10 tracks of the year should be the official one. No one else knows what they are talking about...

But really, maybe there should be a date joined by to be elegible to vote/chose? Most of the people that are on TA for like a year, are at least exposed to hopefully more then melodic trance. So they could come up with their own opinions, instead of djs "force feeding" certain styles.

I think its normally the few people that just join TA & vote on the most popular track at the moment, that affect the vote.

Maybe when you get down to 32-16 tracks or so, you make people rank the production itself. Like post your top 3 out of the 32. But you have to rate the bassline, fx, melody, percusion, clarity, vocals, creativity. At least it would give people something extra to think about.

Like

1.Solar Stone - Solar coaster
Melody : 5 of 5
Bassline: 3 of 5
FX: 4 of 5
2.
3.

or make people give a reason why they chose it...

that would make it too complicated and technical. it's just a "best tracks" poll ffs

that will never be the "best tracks" so it doesn't matter anyway
