Can one genre not be artistically superior to another one?! Sure, you can like horror movies; however, do they have the same artistic value as art-house movies? I think not!

While artistic value is somewhat subjective (which is why critics sometimes disagree), there is a great degree of objectivity (which is why critics more often than not agree with each other). Ultimately, an experienced eye will separate the mediocre from the superior.

Sure, because this surely cannot be a forum for discussion and constructive criticism. Instead, we should uniformally praise that with which the consensus is comfortable.

While we are at it, let us also engage in personal attacks. Why not? If we feel slighted by the good taste of a significant contributor to the board, why not just smear him? Trying to win a substantive argument takes too much effort!

I like both sides and everyone needs to finally stfu about this.

Mods, please take note.

Very well-said.

we know you have a gf, you keep repeating it over and over and over again (a sure sign of insecurity)

+1

I like trance. I dislike dutch anthem trance, I feel it is destroying the genre, so expect me to be damn loud about it.

Anthem Trance is class

I don't see how it is destroying the genre, just because it would be the most commercial sub genre of Trance.
Do explain how it is destroying the genre.

some of you guys are like a bunch of wanabe politicians arguing about world and life changing issues. why not spend your time doing something useful instead of trying to turn music into politics. their is a world outside of trance, and there is in fact more to life than internet forums and your musical preference, did you know that?

he has a point.

but it ain't gonna stop anything.

this is the intarwab, and geeks, nerds and n00bs will continue to use and abuse it.

I think Subey has raised an important point. The fact that hes taken the time to analyse & relate it to clarify the situation to people should be commended. The silly flame wars are lame and they are making extraneous divisions in the board.

Let this be the end of it.

he made a point that anyone with any common sense that has spent time on these boards could have seen. its a waste of time to continue posting about it. its just an over analytical reproduction of the crap that occurs over and over again. just ignore the shit and post construcively in constructive threads|

Posted by MClarke on Jan-13-2005 16:05:

i thought it was a problem, but i didnt realise so many people also thought it was. Im glad he brought it to light.

if constant ridicule stops even one person from supporting the shit that comes out, it's all been worth it

it doesnt tho, it just pisses people off and make them want to support it even more.

The thing thats most annoying, is that there are only like maybe 10 people who have attitudes as sour as yours.

I've turned some of my best friends away from the shit they listened to, so it definately works

Yeah, once they realise our music is more sophisticated, they'll want to switch.

thats because they know you well enough know that if they dont like the same music as you you will spaz out and murder something.

I like hardtrance
I like Dutch Epic Anthem Trance (that's currently destroying the scene. I know, the apocalypse is upon us, such disaster. Man, there isn't even Dutch Epic Anthem Trance around anymore!)

This is a good thread. Finally someone is getting it out what everybody (except the usual bunch with their heads so far up in their asses maybe) secretly thinks.
