Posted by itsTrueSonic on Jan-14-2005 03:57:

damn it .. was going to make a f'n thread about this .. i am the package noodle king .. i eat that high-msg highly packaged bull crap al the time.. back in college, i ate this all the time, because i was dirt poor, and had holes in my pockets .. hahhaa

ramen noodles in the bag -- very good .. i usually jump for either the shrimp or the chicken vegetable

ramen noodles in the cup -- not so good .. i don't like the vegatables they put inside .. they give me the willies .. hahhaha

other alternatives to ramen that are just awesome :

Nong Shim products such as :

Shin Cup -- thai noodles that are hot and spicy, but very good .. very high on the sodium though .. hahhaha

Shrimp Chips -- very very good .. although also high in the sodium .. yet this does hit the spot better than Lays and Doritoes and the rest of those potato chips..

and the #1 of all time .. i can't get past these ..

Picante Korean Onion Soup .. very very good ... dried onions mixed with noodles, and the flavoring is the divine .. you would feel like you are eating a $7 meal, when it costs you less than a $1. hahahahhaha

I used to buy the cup/bowl ramen.. but then one day I discovered that it tastes so much better if you boil it on a stove, instead of adding water from a kettle. So I just get the regular packaged ones now.

Ahhh, I miss nui rou mian! Looks so good.

Ramen will have to do though for now - no problems here tho.

I like eating with those asian soup spoons

Is there a proper name for them besides "asian soup spoon"?

Used to eat Ramen everyday until I put on like 8 pounds solely from the noodles. Haven't eaten it since. Ramen = quick death.

Posted by Slylee on Jan-14-2005 16:55:

i love those things!

Ramen sucks. I even thought so when I was in college. Nothing to it and not enough flavor. Pho is kind of the same. I can eat it, but it doesn't excite me.

It's not so much that it's bad for you (MSG might be though), it's just that noodles and flavoring don't offer much in the way of nutrition.

It lasts practically forever without being frozen thanks to the many perservatives applied to the meat and vegetables and has tons of sodium and msg.

I'm scared to find out what is really in that powder youre supposed to put in.

Siply out, its junk food.

Posted by _Supreme on Jan-14-2005 20:43:

can anyone make me a nice cup of ramen soup and send it to Roermond-Holland?

The monosodium glutamate in the powder is very bad for you.

If you dont get the pre packaged instant stuff, and dont add any additional spices which contain MSG you would be fine.

However the noodles by them self have little value, so you should add veggies and meat to it.
