Just look at the quality of guest EM had in 2002:

Unkle
James Holden
Mistress Barbara
Yousef
Parks & Wilson (Tilt)
James Zabiela
Carl Cox
Sasha & Digweed
Circulation (Decks & EFX)
Roger Sanchez
BT & Tong
Underworld
PVD
Sven Vath
Richie Hawtin
Groove Armada
Oakenfold
Xpress 2
Rui Da Silva
Timo Maas
Marco V
Danny Howells
Layo & Bushwacka

In 2003 is when they really started to overwhelm me with people I had never heard of and to be honest, I lost intrest in it.

thats less than half of the people that did EM's that year though
face it sweetheart, it's been pretty much the same since it's inception, you just don't know half the people that do it now
which is a shame, cos some of it rocks, hard

No I lost intrest because none of those DJs were at the level the guests of 2002 were. There is a reason why Underowrld has sold shitloads of albums, they are good! There is a reason why the unknown DJs that have since been on EM have not gotten popular, because they are not good. It used to be that having an EM was huge for DJs career, now there are more unknown DJs, and it doesnt have the fanfare it once had internationally, and getting back to the topic, that is why just because Christopher Lawrence had an EM, doesnt mean anything.

Thats nice, but the average person hasn't.
And there are alot more average people out there than elitists. And I am speaking from the average persons view.

wtf.

The thing about the Essential Mix is that it's supposed to be diverse, and at the same time showcase the talents of the profession. It is not ASOT, for god's sake.

It's one of the few respectable radio shows out there.

um who cares about the whole dj mag rating system?
Its all about the music, and to me, he sounds like REAL oldskool (tough) trance - but with new tunes and no cheeze. Hard to do.

- and yeah, he is one of those DJ's you have to hear loud,n,live to fully appreciate.

you say 2002 was such a great year for the essential mix and that you listened lots, yet eddie halliwell had a mix that year and you claim not to have heard of him. You're probably just another guy who thinks that george acosta, gabriel & dresden, edgar v and sandra collins are the best dj's around. Take ten bucks and go buy yourself a clue

A solid dj and producer, and one of the few trance DJs left playing stuff with some edge and bite to it. He should stop playing all those shit hard house records though.

Maybe it's just the way he focusses his marketing guys. You can't assume that every DJ wants to do well in America. America is populare for DJs mainly because it's a fertile ground, waiting to be planted with seeds.

Either way, I've got his Lost Feelings Album....

Hmm...
Pretty good. They weren't his tracks.... but yeah... pretty good....
